hi fellas,
this energy content vs daily energy intake thing is really confusing me.
it is pretty straight forward in most cases with meat and processed food, but I have been on a high fibre diet, this is where it gets confusing!
The question is that dietary fibre can not be digested and therefore is not full absorbed. for example, if i have a serve of oatmeal of 1000KJ. I may just aborb 50% (the number is not accurate) of the total energy content, the majority of which is from soluble carbs and protein. So if i have a high fibre meal, how do i know how much i eat in terms of Kj/Cal???
with the standard daily energy intake, does that mean the energy you INGEST, or the energy you ABSORB?
this may not seem like a big deal to many, but when people try to trim down for summer, this can make a huge difference.
