I run everyday, I do HIIT Cardio everyday, I workout hardcore 4 days a week. I stay under 2500 Calories and my maintenance is 2800. I eat all good foods with the exception of a few slips. I drink loads of water, my fats come from good sources, and protein intake is way up. I have been doing this month after month. Not occasionally or every other month. I mean a good year at this now. I take the proper supps and I do everything by the book. For some fucked off reason I am not getting ripped, I am not getting lean, I am not even getting skinny.. It's like my metabolism doesn't work. It seems if I eat 1 cookie my mind tells me I have completely failed that day. I don't know what else I can do. I mean i amnot fat as you can see in my sig, but the fact that when I sit down i have rolls is failure to my self esteem. I can't use anything that can cause me to fail drug test. Any suggesttions?/??

Maybe that isn't your maintenance.
Maybe you have alot of water weight.

Well I usually keep my calories under 2k, which would definitely be way below maintenance, and that is my maintenance using online calculators and the Benedict Method. I'm 6'3'', 180lbs, 20 years old, Highly Active.

HIIT that I refer to is the Insanity beach Body workout. And it is crossfit which is going to save my ass at Boot camp.. I just started it and i can tell you it's helping if anything is.

Running hills, pulling a sled, or pushing a Prowler (especially this option) will almost definitely improve your general physical preparedness far more than that Insanity program.

I dunno.. When we had a function with the actual drill instructors from boot, they made us do push ups + jumping jacks+ high knees+ run in place for about 10-15 minutes to "give us a taste" and thats the kinda program it is. 5 minutes of that type of stuff then 30 second break.. I have a good bit of long distance endurance. The short term endurance is what i am going for now.. I want to be able to do several sprints then loads of jumping jacks back to back without being winded and bout to die.

and a prowler is like 400 bucks shipping and all. I aint got money for that or the stuff to make a homemade one..

why dont you ask your drill instructor to make up a program for you to follow? he sees you every day so he knows you better than these guys on this board. he has been coaching for a long time too i bet,so ask his to help you reach your goals.

I dont have my own personal drill instructor. That was a one time thing. I have a recruiter who I already out run, out pull up, out perform in general...

So it sounds like he stopped talking to you because you're, well, better than him now?

LOL!

Dude. Ever been to boot camp before? Doesn't matter what shape you're in when you go in, you'll be leaner when you come out. Guaranteed. Just make sure you have a lot of endurance for right now to prepare for boot camp.

you drop weight in boot .. trust me on this one... they food and the amount of time given to eat then run march run study shots...beatdowns..great stuff running is the key:coffee:

I am running distance 2 days (4+) MIles, then every third day I am going to time myself in a 2 mile run. Goal to reach 11:30 Seconds by July with the endurance and stamina to continue running another mile or so at least at a slower speed.

You need to run a LOT more than that. Heck, there are guys here at work that just sit in an office and type all day that run 6-8 miles each day as their workout and they are not even prepping for the Marines. Start running 6-8 miles with 2,800 calories and you will lose bodyfat for sure.

Or if you dont want run that much then lower your calorie intake by about 250 and see how that goes for a couple weeks. If you are not losing bodyfat then you are simply taking in too many calories.

I do a lot more than just run tho. 6 - 8 miles would take time away from the other things I do that help prep me. And the MAX run in Marine Corps Recruit Training is 3 miles.. Older Marine's say that's the mistake that young recruits seem to make EVERY single time these days. Focusing on running when running is not at all a big part. Other than the speedy marches , the Initial Strength Test, and the final Strength test, then it's not too much more long distance running. Most running is short burst of sprints from one obstacle to another ,and one building to the next.

And I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to losing weight, I am not taking in too many calories. It's not possible. I document my daily intake well.

I do thanks for your advice tho. And my question was referring to loose skin, not fat. If loose skin and fat are equal in some sense then excuse me ,but I was real heavy for a short time as a young man and it caused me to gain weight in the hip/lower abdominal region. I am simply trying to figure is it a better idea to drop even more BF% to tighten the excess skin or to try to do a lean bulk and fill out the rest of my body to the measurements of the excess. Dropping the BF% seems ridiculous since I am 6'3'' 180lbs. Increasing weight just scares me since I have only recently got to the size I am now, so you can see why someone would be scared to gain weight back?

what are your goals??
i dont want to tell you what to do at all, but running 2 days a week @ 4 miles each run, then once a week timing yourself on another run isnt a good running plan.
why dont you ask the drill instructors for a program you can follow so you improve in your running, and all the other challenges you have to face to reach your goals. i imagine the instructors have a booklet or chart on how to slowly improve..

i know the navy seal studs just didnt jump right in there and do 100 nonstop pushups, they followed the buds plan of pyramid style training, and slowly built up.

ask..

step, there are no drill instructors dude.. I can not call Boot camp and ask them for advice. And my running is not at question here. I have it under control. My question is about excess skin. I don't need help with anything else. Although running and shit does pertain to the excess skin slightly it is still off topic. Just forget the question was asked. I will figure it out myself. Doesn't seem many people here have this problem or no too much on the primary subject.

I suffer a bit from it, but I don't let it bother me, I'm fine with having some excess skin around my midsection, I'm not looking for perfection. I'm fine with my body, though I am trying to gain muscle/weight atm.

I never have cheat meals though, so it gets kind of boring. My self esteem improved after I lost 90+ pounds.

Congrats on your weight loss ,but perfection is exactly what I am looking for.

I understand and I didnt mean my reply to be negative in any way. In fact I would have replied again yesterday but sometimes the site wont let me get to the forums for a day or 2 and that happened right after my reply yesterday. Something with IE would not let me come back to the forums.

Anyway, if running more is not the option then I would say focus on losing the bf through diet. I know it might sound insane to drop down in calories but if you are not losing BF then thats the only EASY answer. Maybe start by dropping 250 calories from your current diet and see how that goes for a couple weeks.

Good Luck With That

Strive to be perfect, not appear to be.

And Ecto, thanks man. That's what I am going to do. I was just wondering others opinion's and what they thought since I was already statistically underweight.
