hey this kinda of goes in hand with Toughenuffs post but i was also wondering why you need fat inorder to gain muscle?

srry if this is in the wrong section.

kind of a strange question you are asking here......

Do you mean why do you need fat in your diet? If that is the case, becasue fat serves many functions to the cells in your body, such as insulation, protection etc. Also, fat is the building block of hormones.

Or, are you asking why you need to get fat in order to add muscle? Well, the above answers still stand. As well, it is difficult (pretty much impossible unless you are using steroids) to gain any sort of muscle mass without gaining weight. Unfortunatly, with that weight gain will come some muscle gain and some fat gain. You need to try and limit the latter and improve on the former as much as possible.

well i was asking why i need to get fat inorder to gain muscle. and if i need to limit the fat gain when i gain muscle, should i do cardio? because i looked at peoples bulking plan and it did not include cardion.

You don't need to GET Fat to build muscle if your already skinny. That doesn't make much sense. What you need to do to bulk up is increase your healthy intake so your body has more to work with. I would advise going over the stickies a couple times to get the concept down.

ooo...well i'm pretty big and hav some fat on me. so i shouldn't eat more calories right? just more healthier food?

Yeah man, if your already overweight with alittle fat, then you need to cut while doing weight training but also keep a nice chunk of cardio into your workouts. This way you are gaining muscle while losing fat then when you lose the fat you want, you maintain by raising your caloric intake and focusing on weight training.

K I don't know if this is right, but I think it is.
I guess you when you said "fat", you were talking about body fat.
You need to eat extra food so your body can not only maintain, but grow as well. As you eat extra food, some of it is going to become body fat. The cleaner your diet, or rather the more ideal it is for your particular body, you can minimize the amount of dough you will gain.

ooo ok. so i should stick to a cutting diet and workout plan? i was thinking of gaining muscle and then losing the fat later on because cutting is just lowering you bf% and i wanted to gain muscle.

Well how severe is your BF%?

idk i havnt gotten it checked but its not extremely bad...i jus hav alot of fat on my stomach and thighs not any where else really. and i can see like my biceps and calf muscles without flexing so i shouldnt hav too much bf.

Ok, so then adapt a diet where your taking in just enough Claories for your lifestyle and workout so you cut VERY slowly but are still providing your body enough fuel to grow and build. You need to be right on that borderline until you get rid of that excess baggage. Then bump your cals up even more for some serious bulking action.

o or should i just lose the excess fat and then start bulking?

also i dont know if this effects anythin but i'm only 14

I figured you were younger but yeah that does kinda change things. It is very important for you to eat clean and keep working out at your age. Take it easy on the weights and stick to natural workouts like pushups, pull-ups, etc etc and cardio. I say do alittle of the weight training, but keep it simple until your older and developed.

o well for football my coach makes me squat and bench. could this ruin my body because i'm too young?

If you go too hard, sure can. If you take it easy, then nah, anything in moderation is ok. Just be careful and make sure you use the right form.

:) Glad I could help.
