I've been dieting as well as doing some exercising but I wanted to get in shape for the first semester of high school (im 16 and i weight about 150 pounds... my goal would be to get around 130) ...

Has anyone tried stuff like "Ripper Fuel" or any other fat burners? Are they safe? Any other suggestions other than dieting?

- Matt

you 16? want to get in shape... EXERCISE, DIET and HARD WORK. :)

Com'on. Are you kidding ? At 16 you should be doing all the basic lifts, and eating a balanced diet. This shit is nuts.

How tall are you??? At 150 lbs I'd be thinking about gaining some muscle before worrying about losing weight

16 year old male with a goal weight of 130lbs......unless you're on the wrestling team trying to make a certain weight class, this makes no sense to me at all.
He would have to be 4 feet tall for this to make sense.

they are right Matt.
You do not need any supplements at your age!! Just get out of the couch stop eating fast food and exercise man!!! I bet in a month you will see the results!
Wanna lose weight?
If you have access to the beach go run on the sand. It's awsome!

Alright so exercise and dieting.... But will this get me looking pretty cut? I was under the impression in order to get those nice ripped abs you had to take some fat burning stuff... is this not true?

You don't need any supplements. If you want your abs to show, your have to have <10% body fat. But, what good is to be really skiny with no muscle? Get a good weight lifting routine (with some cardio) and diet going first. At your age, you can put on muscle and lose fat at the same time. Diet and exercise are the keys, not supplements. Don't worry about your weight. Monitor your body fat %. At 130 lbs. you will be scrawny--unless you are 5 feet tall. Visit the Diet & Training sections of the forum to learn how to do that right. There is no magic pill. Patience is a must.

Diet and exercise is all you need. 10% bodyfat and under is a good gauge to reveal the sixpack; however, that is not always true. It depends on where the person carries bodyfat. Most guys carry fat in the abdomen. You also have to develop your abs to have them show. It's possible to have a sixpack @ 12%, depends on the development of the abs.

Damn I love this forum! hahaha thanks guys for all your help! Anyone know any ways to measure your body fat? I think I saw some scales that do that... are these accurate? any good brands or makes? or is there a different way to measure body fat?

- matt

no the scales are not accurate. You want calipers. scales are gresatly effected by food and drink intake.

Go with manual or digital calipers (e.g., AccuMeasure or Fat Track II).

what's a good place to buy calipers from?

I have had good experiences with this company: http://www.incredibody.com/ , and would suggest them. I haven't shopped around for calipers before, so I can't compare prices. I use a scale with bio-electrical impedance. The company that makes the best ones is called Tanita. I have had mine for a year and it works great. You just have to use it at the same time of the day for accuracy. Same with calipers, though. If you measure right after a workout, you will show a lower body fat percentage. With the bio-electrical impedance scales, you must be hydrated, or it won't be as accurate. Mine is very consitant. I wake up, take a piss, and weigh. Works awesome. There are a lot variety between models, though. Don't be too cheap. They all have different options. Bizrate.com is good to compare prices. Got mine for around $70. Well worth it. Bf% is more important than weight, IMO.

You want a tip in weight loss? Dont take any "FAT BURNING" supplements cuz they dont do shit!I am 16 yrs old and when I was 15 I was a little overweight (about 10lbs) so i deiced to lose weight. It went fine and I brought my Body Fat Percentage to 11.5percent. You know how I did it? Eating natrual food (fruits, vegetables, bread, meat) and running alot. By running a lot I mean 1,000callories of energy burning a day. However you dont need to run a lot, I recomend about 200calories for a begineer and 300-400 for someone who has been doing it for a little bit alrdy. Dont listen to that 'low carb' 'low fat' bullshit all you need is a balanced diet with excercise.

I have personally tried Ripped Fuel and found it to be extremely effective, you still need to put in the hard work (cardio + lifting etc) but it definately works. Also, I didnt experience any side effects.

Are you using that to cut with the MD? Your pics don't reveal any need to cut at this point.

WHY THANK YOU! But no, i'm not really trying to cut. I'm trying to stay awake in meetings. lmao:rolleyes:. I've cut so much sugar out of my diet that I've got this semi narceleptic thing happening when there's a lack of stimili.

I would realy like to lose the rest of this fat though. It's all around my chest and lower abs. I hate it. Feels more like a thick layer of skin than fat though. It's very separated from the muscle I can feel under it; maybe it's leaving. I think i'm closer to 14% right now. yuck.
