FDA Warning Casts Suspicion on Bodybuilding Supplements and Sports Nutrition Industry
by Millard Baker

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Public Health Advisory (PHA) warning consumers to avoid using bodybuilding supplements claiming to contain “steroids”, “steroid-like substances”, “steroid alternatives” and “hormone products”. The FDA warning failed to give guidance on the specific product ingredients that were problematic. The extremely broad language cast suspicion upon all “body building supplements” marketed for performance enhancement because they might contain synthetic steroids (”FDA recommends that consumers should not use body building products marketed as containing steroids or steroid-like substances,” July 28). Yes, we've seen all of this before. They must be bad for me because they are not made by, Phizer, Merck or Bristol Meyers Squibb. They wont outlaw crappy food being sold from all the fast food joints or, even at super markets, alcohol or even cigarettes, just pot sadly!

So true. Think about it... this is damn near the only country in the world where poor people are fat. Now just for the record I'm not knocking poor people, far from it. The real crime here is that it is so expensive to eat fresh foods. Low income folks are forced to purchase boxed, processed crap in order for their families to eat. Then the government wonders why there is an obesity problem in America's youth...
