i went tanning tonight for the 1st time and now i have a few questions

how often do you go?

how long should u stay in? i was in their today for 4-5min.

how long until u see a difference in skin?

I recomend you go in for 45 min every day

we cannot answer those questions because they are all very specific to each individual. It depends on your skin type, the type of bed/bulbs, your goal, etc.

why don't you ask the employees at the salon, they should have these answers for you.

I thought you were gonna get the self tanning stuff.

Try the spray tans. They are safe and you get tan right away. Lasts for about 14 days.

i recomend you not listen to forman.

go 10-15max minutes your first time use lotion and googles. See if you are burnt the next day and if your skins in shape, go again. Try to not burn!

kenwood, I have the same skin type as you, so what works for me is 1-2.5 hrs. daily. You will see the results on your second to third week.

Since it's obvious that all you will get on this forum is smart ass comments I will be the nice guy that I am and set you straight.

Talk to the salon reps!! That should be your first approach.

There are several different tanning beds. From standard to high intensity beds. Each type requires a different approach. Also different costs. The standard bed is what I have used for years and the least expensive.

Other factors are skin type. I know several fair skinned women that can barely tan, they almost always burn. Spray on tan is pretty much the only thing for them.

If you are average skin tone I'd start on a standard bed, 8 to 10 minutes, the first two sessions.. (one week), then the next week bump it up 2 minutes. each week bump it up. Eventually you should be able to go 20 minutes, once a week without burning. You can use lotions they sell, expensive though 40 to 60 a bottle. You don't need them but they help. Also use regular body lotions to keep your skin for drying out too much.

In California it is against the law to use a tanning bed more than once in a 24 hour period. May sound silly but it's a law for a reason. Keep it at moderation.
