I recently got a cold and I want to fight it fast. Here is what I have been taking:

Cold medicine: (Acetaminophen 325mg, Dextromethorphan HBr 15mg, Guaifenesin 200mg, Phenylephrine HCL 5mg) every 6 hours.
Benadryl: Diphenhydramine HCL 25mg, 1 a day
1 multi vitamin (5000 IU vitamin A), 1 gram of vitamin c, 1 b vitamin, 50mg of zinc, 1 gram vitamin d
3 cough drops, 1 roxylean tablet
Garlic, spice, spinach
What should I add? I have read that I should increase my vitamin c intake to 3 grams or more. I also read to take 2 multi vitamins a day or 10,000-15,000 IU of Vitamin A and 50+ mg - 150 mg of Zinc. I am wondering if that is overkill or harmful to my body.

cold medicine will give you relief from symptoms but will not get rid of the cold faster. There are no common medicine that you can buy to end a cold , it is a viral infection, it will take its course. Vitamins are ok but you are taking way too much..some vitamins like C will wash away from your body if taken in large quantities 1g is already too much , but some vitamins like A could become toxic if too much of it. just follow the directions on the vitamin box label.
the best thing you can do is drink fluids and rest rest rest , sleep and rest no gym..avoid changes and drops in temperature. when you take a bath make it warm
do net get chills.
if you rest well you 'll get better in 2 days.
