finally....i actually quit

Great work NG.

If you can download them on the net....look for the new anti smoking commercials from the UK, or the older ones from Oz......they`ll further strengthen your efforts for sure :thumb:

doing well. i have a little tracking thing on my computer i downloaded.

according to it i've gone 1 week, 4 days, 17 hours and 19 minutes without smoking
i've not smoked 117 cigarettes
i've saved $23.44
i've added 9 hours 45 minutes to my life (assuming i don't get hit by a bus)

one transgression to report - one cigarette 2 days ago. didn't finish it and none since but thought i should be honest.

wow, that detailed.. now that has got to be of motivation! keep your head up hun and those things far from you! you cant do it! :thumb:

NG~
I bet the cig tasted liek shit and thats why you didnt finish it, right?:)

I was a smoker once too. I remember quiting and then smoking again, only to find out it tastes shitty when you have clean lungs again. The key here is not to keep having one here and there because eventually the tastye will be good again- making it harder to quit. You have come this far. No need to turn back now:)

yep - totally agree leslie! it did taste crappy and strong and it smelled extra bad.

then i started thinking that if i kept it up very soon it wouldn't taste so bad and then i'd have to quit all over again.

i don't want to be the sort of person who "quits" smoking and that means that have one here and there.

i'm not telling myself it's ok now and then. it's ok never and saturday reminded me.

Great job NG! :) I'm proud of ya! :)

3 months, 1 week, 5 days, 18 hours, 58 minutes and 49 seconds.

:D

Good job! Thats amazing! :thumb:

nah - the amazing thing is that my dumbass STARTED smoking at age 25.

thanks though. i'm glad i stuck with it when i did quit

Keep it up GIRL

Why smoking is so good that people are addicted to it ?
Oh, congratulations. :)

"i'm goin tell you somethin that you may not know 'bout me, HDM, I smoke rocks".

on a serious note, great job NG. that isnt an easy thing to do:dancer:

Jodi - did you use to smoke?

Congrats NG

Wow, I never knew... Congrats!

That's outstanding nikegurl!!! Having quite about ten years ago I feel qualified to give you some advice. #1 Cravings will NEVER go away. I get them to this day, particularly after a great meal. I just sit back and think how good it would be to light one up and relax. Then I kick myself in the ass and think how BAD that would be and the craving goes away. Yep, always remember that you'll be recovering for the rest of your life, kind of like an alcoholic, you're never actually cured. Once you have that mind set, the little bastards won't get you again. #2 There's going to be a little voice inside your head for the rest of your life telling you, "Go ahead. Have just one. Just one can't hurt you." That voice is BULLSHIT!!! Just one today will turn into a pack a day tomorrow. Don't EVER believe that voice, it's the voice of evil and you can beat it. #3 is a little trick I use to fight off the occasional SERIOUS craving, just imagine how sick you'd get if you gave in and smoked that one. It cures my cravings every time. :barf:

Again, congrats from someone who knows how difficult it is to quite. You've got my undying respect for sticking to it. :thumb:

What gets me is, Why are there smoking and non smoking sections?????? The stuff still spreads.

That's like having a urinating section in a swimming pool

not really the point of the thread.

thanks Albob. some really good advice there! i've been warned that 1 cigarette now would be nasty but the 2nd one might be really good. i'm not gonna check into it though.

:D

Your point?? I was commenting on Princes comment:rolleyes:

my "point" was how pointless your comment was. everyone is well aware that smoking is dangerous and deadly and unpleasant etc. - hence the quitting. (i put all that in the post i made when i started the thread.)

Prince basically said the same thing.

Nike, you need to grow up a bit..............You know what? You didn't even acknowledge the "congrats" I gave you the other day. Seems like you're more interested in instigating.

Save it for the kids NG.

I didn't acknowledge b/c I prefer not to interact with you. That's my right. I was hoping you'd get the hint...but apparently you feel compelled to comment on every thread that hits the board.

NG, I don't feel "compelled" to comment on every thread that hits the board. I comment on things of interest. "That's my right!"

If you prefer not to interact with me, why the heck did you comment then, and why are you now?

What is this YOUR thread and you CHOSE who enters and who can comment? Please.

And there's Jodi, always adding her two bits in.
