Florida resident Dennis Schrader has the Guinness world record for most autographed baseballs owned, with over 4,000.
Yes, he owns
over 4,000 autographed baseballs. He even has a bank-like secure vault at his house to protect them.
I'm a huge baseball fan and collected baseball cards like they were going out of style as a kid(and they pretty much were going out of style it turned out), and loved getting autographs from the players.
That's as a
kid, and I never once
paid for an autographed baseball. It wasn't so much having an autograph that meant a lot to me, but the fact that I met the players while doing so. Hell, getting Andre Dawson to sign a freaking napkin at a restaurant was one of the biggest thrills of my childhood.
I would love to walk through Schrader's vault and check out the collection, but I feel like the collection is a bit much. I mean, paying for a Fidel Castro signed baseball? Really?
Also, he loses some points for pulling a Scotty Smalls and playing baseball with a Mickey Mantle autographed ball.
