My biggest problem when bulking is getting enough calories in a day. I simply hate eating now. Its ten times worse than actually working out. Does anyone know any foods that are high in calories and dont take forever to eat? Below are a few of what Ive found...

Whole Wheat Toast with Peanutbutter - two peices equals about 200 calories.

Milk - One tall glass is usually 100 calories and it takes about 20 seconds to drink.

Mac and Cheese - One box of Valveta contains about 900 calories and it tastes pretty good although its high in fat.

O.J. - One tall glass contains about 100 calories and it takes about 20 seconds to drink.

Noodles with Sauce - One serving is about 400 calories but it takes a while to consume.

Does anyone else have any good foods? I eat alot of Tuna and Spagettios but those suck when trying to get a 1,000 calorie meal in.

well, if you really want to gain good you cant just shove in high calorie foods and not be balanced when bulking..... alot people will say "just drink whole milk, and eat a lot of peanut butter and 1% cottage cheese!", but when you think about it, your getting a shitload of fats that you wont need when you stuff yourself like that to get extra calories. the best way is to suck it up, eat a ton of healthy carbs , lot of protein, and keep the peanut butter to a last resorts (but still using it for the omegas). take this for example. i normally love eating oats, but ive been eating a shitload nowadays to gain good, about 8 cups a day (uncooked), and since i did, ive gained 10 lbs and 1% bodyfat. if your looking for a quicker way to consume it all, throw your oats/carbs in a blender and gulp away, that takes a couple seconds, is quick, and easy as well. but dont use spagettios and stuff like that, i know without looking that its got a lot of sugars in it lol

So is it OK to eat like 400 - 600 calories the "healthy" way and then just down 4 glasses of skim milk?

Eating has become such a pain. Care to list your shopping list for me?

drop the mac and cheese and the oj... those are uneccessary, instead eat a real orange, or make your own mac and cheese with whole wheat noodles... what kind of bread are you eating that only has 200 cals per 2 slices with pb? Most whole wheat breads are about 110 to 120 cals per slice... plus 1 tbsp pb is 200 cals per slice...

Other quick high calorie meals are homemade weight gainer shakes... something like milk/whey/banana/pb/cottage cheese/oats... etc... you can down one in a min or two... Whole wheat bagels with hummus go down quick and can be a nice high calorie quick meal... or pop a couple of whole hard boiled eggs.

peanut butter granola bars by natures valley. 220 calories, good carbs and 8 or 9g of protein. This are easy to grab and eat while you are in the car.

most skim milk has 80 or 90 calories in 1 cup, most all glasses or at least two cups so I'd say you are looking at more like 200 with the milk....check your values for more consistancy.

Make your own shakes and bars. You can make a whole heap of calories into a really small package!

eg:
Shake with -
1 cup oats (310 cals)
1 cups milk (80 cals)
1 banana (120 cals)
1 scoop protein powder (100 cals)
1 tbs peanut butter (90 cals)

Doesn't take long to drink something.

Or, make bars with similar ingredients (and add whole eggs to bind) and scarf them down... Easy, simple and healthy.

taking to forever to eat huh.. we re in the same boat then. clean food takes me a while to eat. if only clean food tasted like pizza and ice cream..

yer damn straight heh, homemade bars kick ass and i use them when i need the quick intake while im working. mine consist of a little tweaked recipe that jeepster posted and they taste great.

1 scoop whey (110 calories)
1 tablespoon peanut butter (90 calories)
1/4 cup sugarfree maple syrup (30 calories, for flavor and liquid)
2 cups oats (600 calories, dont have to use this much but i do because its the amount i need, usually about 1 cup which is 300 calories).

mix it all together with a little bit of water and youve got a bar..... multiply it by about 8-10 to make a pan that you can seperate and store for later meals.

I just tried this little recipe and while it wasnt an enjoyable experience it was stil awsome. I downed freaking 800 calories in about 25 minutes. That may not sound too fast but itll usually take me an hour to consume 1,000 calories.

With a little more milk and some more "practice" I should be able to drink one whole "shake" in 15 minutes.

Thanks alot. I apreciate it.
