Do you manage your own server?
The new server is ready, all websites have been moved except this forum, I always move the forums last because the database is huge and it takes a long time. I plan to move the forums sometime this week, have not decided when yet.
I assume the forum will be inaccessable during the move.
How long will it take do you think?
Good luck! Make sure your backups are recent and redundant!![]()
yes.
That's awesome dude. Do you IT background in your past, or did you just teach yourself most of what you needed to know about server administration?
Yes, 14 years of IT experience, mostly network admin, my last job I was a consultant, I "retired" about a year ago and now all I do is run IronMagazine and IronMagLabs full-time...and I am much happier.![]()
Gotcha. While you were swapping your server, I was swapping a hospital server about 45minutes from New Orleans. This was the easiest swap I have done yet. I am not work out from 30 hours of no sleep, so I'm thinking about riding in to New Orleans for St Patty's Day.
we were on the old server for almost 5 years, it was getting maxed out in several ways, e.g. CPU and disk space, it was just time to upgrade to a new one.
