I spent awhile trying to figure out if this was a goofed response and NEW THREAD was hit instead or what?

So I asked someone "so he was saying that the yellow tie was brown", and then asked what the joke was, and they said "you didn't tell me a joke", it took me a couple minutes to get them to understand WTF I was talking about.
