Genetic Engineering

This thread is for discussing views on genetic engineering to enhance the human genome.

My view is similar to a view from James D. Watson, if we can create better humans, why shouldn't we. This does not mean that careful experimentation on animals is not needed to prove the effectiveness of genetic technologies, but once that is proven I don't see why genetic engineering shouldn't be done.

What are your views on it?
