HOW MUCH GLUTAMINE DO YOU GUYS TAKE IN A 24 HR PERIOD
 
I put about 5 grams in my post workout shake.

Ditto. (My glutamine comes in the protein powder I use)
 
i still use glutamine peptide in my post w/o drink and 5 grams before bed..:thumb:
 
you shouldn't add glutamine with protein post workout because your body wont absorb it due to competeing amino acids. I take glucose and glutamine(10g) mixed with water, half during workout and half immedietly when i finish. 20mins later i take my protein. glut peptides are ok to take with protein though.

i was under the impression that l-glutamine was a amino acid.please explain....

prince. he might be refering to the studies that glutamine raises your growth hormone levels while you sleep.not sure though?

Hey guys...sorry I'm late to the party...

L-glutamine is NOT absorbed too well when consumed with whole proteins, but in the peptide form, is utilized completely. Amongst it's benefits are increased glutathione formation(this is a super important anti-oxidant), improved immune function, increased glycogen deposition, increased nitrogen retention and transport, and increased growth hormone output.

Best times to take glutamine include upon rising, pre-workout, post-workout, and before bed. Use the L form on an empty stomach 30 minutes before meals, or the peptide form on an empty tummy or with meals.

15-20 grams a day is a good amount as our guts are "glutamine hogs" and will try to steal most of our glutamine. As much as 40 grams a day is very useful.

That's exactly what I mean Tank. Many "Bed Time" recovery formulas include Glumatine for that particular reason.

Yes, I could search for it...but if someone is going to post telling me there are studies I guess I would hope that they could tell me where they are, or post them here! :D

I understand what you are saying. I just know that sometimes I will read a study in a journal or on the web, and retain all the info about the study, but forget where the study was. Unless, of course, I am specifically looking to reference an article or something:)
