I've got bees burrowed in my front lawn. They were pretty pissed when I mowed over their new home and I got stung twice. I took a shovel and put a mound of dirt over their exit hole for now. I can't find shit about killing bees online. Apparently the average person cannot buy a bee killer because of harming the honey bee population. Even websites that talk about using bee killers are using wasp killers instead. I have a wasp killer and it did nothing but make the bee wet, and pissed

Any ideas?

Call animal control....they might send a person to salvage the whole group and relocate them....

If you want to be evil a website said using Starter Fluid worked for one guy, supposedly the ether knocks them out the first round then you go back over them again. Bad thing is there are other harmful chemicals that won't be good for your yard nor your family....................

Speaking of bees, I was attacked by some fire ants while feeding the ducks outside

I don't want to kill my lawn. I mixed peanut butter with boric acid and dropped the balls into the entrances that I know of, then filled them in. Hopefully they'll take the tainted PB back to the queen and BLAM!, dead hive.

gasoline , you dont have to ignite it but we always tried to burn it off to keep in from absorbing in the ground. We used well water for a long time

First I don't think the bees you speak of have a queen, those holes are individual homes. The females are all fertile and build their own nests. Solitary bees feed on nectar and pollen just like the social colony bees we all know. Because of this they are now being used to pollinate commercial agriculture more and more since our typical honey bees are under threat of endangerment.....

Since they are so valuable you should clear a patch of yard in a corner where you don't go and then lay some sod or some kind of dense vegetation overwhere they are burrowing now....

Bees are part of a natural cycle. Why would you want to kill them off? K, so the buzzing is annoying, and they fly around, but apparently you didn't get stung until you pissed them off. Is there a way to get around them? Or is the hive directly in the middle of your lawn? If they are BEES and not wasps, I would highly suggest you don't kill them off, the bee population is slightly endangered as it is. Embrace!

You had me until this...

It depends on which breed you are talking about..

I agree, I knew saying that would bite me in the ass. But, it is true, there has been a significant decline over the past few years, enough to the point that people are noticing the negative effects. Bees do a whole hell of a lot more for plant life than any other species.

They're in the middle of my lawn. I'd love to not mow it, but that's not being realistic

Those are my attack ants.

Leave the bees in peace. Bees are cool. They wont sting you if you dont make scared moves. If bees come near you, move slowly and quiet.

Lol, thats like saying he built the house and moved in, and that he should die for it.. srsly.

No, your analogy is an all around failure.

Its more like saying he built his house in an Muslim neigborhood in the middle east, and everytime they walk by his home he throws bacon at them. Eventually he would die.

I am all about saving nature too, but THEY ARE IN HIS YARD STINGING HIM DURING YARD WORK.

srsly.

Sometimes people think "bees" but they aren't exactly bees. Anyhow, bees or not just flood them out if they are in the ground. A well placed garden hose at a trickle for a day or two would do it.

No it doesn't burrowing bees are pollinators too....we should be wary of destroying any of them. It's mans territoriality, the fuck any god damned unwanted life form that gets near my home attitude that's going to be the end of us...at some point we're going to have to face the facts that we share this planet with other life that are crucial to our continuance on it....

kill the little bastards i die if i get bit. i have to carry a epi-kit with me during summer months. which of course, i never do.:ohyeah:

I was referring to Africanized bees. You want them in your backyard, be my guest.

Better than Japanese Hornets

Anyway, I could care less about insects. I light them on fire and laugh. It's not like they have a soul or anything

Why not just use water, they'll leave. Bee population is down big right now all over the US.

This.

Or hire one of the neighborhood kids you don't like to mow your lawn and film it. :daydream:

bees are the gayest insects there are . . chances are if you stood without pants on they would fly straight for your arse . . just try and prove me wrong :coffee:
