You're not alone in your decision making. I've toured (and later joined) a few gyms in my time and 'thought' they would be great places to train at, only to find out later that they were not.
If you like that gym, and you get a good workout there, then that's all that matters. More power to you...
That's why I drive an extra 15 minutes to get to the gym, it's worth the extra effort.
