You do not have to tip, and most people don't, but we always tip $1-$3 per meal. I just have a hard time not tipping knowing how hard they work and how shitty they get paid.

They get tipped... it is included in your room price. These guys don't make crappy money. We talked to one of the guys there about his job and it is not really that easy to get a job at some of these resorts. They don't just take anyone. They all had a lot of experience in large parks like Disney or experience working with the public on cruise ships, etc. Most could also speak several languages. About half of the people working at our resort weren't even Mexican.

I have been here for 4 days now. The weather has been great. I am as far from the lobby as you can get. They have golf carts that pick you up and bring you to the lobby though. I love not paying for drinks and food. We order room service daily. They bring up bottles of liquor to your room. The swim up bar is excellent. You were right about the ocean. Not very blue and a lot of seaweed. We are going to the Oasis tomorrow in Cancun to their pool and ocean. We have a wedding tonight on the beach. The reception is inside with a DJ, food and ofcourse FREE DRINKS.

Remember you can go to any other Palace Resort and use their faciliies including eating/drinking for free. Beach Palace is pretty nice and happening, it has a younger crowd.

Palace Resorts is just a corporation that own numerous resorts, several in Mexico. They are open year round just as any other resort is.
