Using a larger diameter bar. There is one bar at Golds that is rounder than the others but, what about using DBs? Do you wrap a towel around the grips to make them larger? Hmm, for some reason I feel that wrapping a towel or something around the grips would make it EASIER..

What are you guys using?

I see some guys using square pieces of foam. That is probably just to protect their hands though.

soft bar lifting makes it harder. you have to grip harder to apply force through the towel. i have done it before. you need a bunch of towel though. not like a little dish rag or something. you need to wrap it up good.

I've done soft bar lifting before at the suggestion of P-funk. I've also taken those oversized pads pussies use to protect their delicate shoulders from marks while squatting and wrapped two of them around the barbell to increase grip demands. That is harder than towels even, I found.

yup, anything that is soft and significatly increases the diameter of the bar. A large beach towel works well wrapping in several times over the pull up bar. That is what I used to do.

I got the idea from a John Brookfield article in Milo a year ago. Brookfield is a grip master.

yeah, i've seen people wrap thick foam pads around the bar and lift.
