From my experience, they are a fuqqin joke.
We had some here for a short while. They were basically 'uniformed thugs'.
They hung out in front of our two clubs. (downtown Colorado Springs, across the street from one another)
They would stand there, in their white t-shirts, BDU pants and red berrets. They huddled around in a 'pack'...They were worse than any of the problem drunks we had. (I am a bouncer) Sounds about right about the story of them jumping the wrong guy.
We had a HUGE brawl outside at closing last year. All boucers were 'occupied'...police were on their way....
Those fuq nuts thought they were gonna 'help'...until they grabbed one of my managers and tried to subdue him...a 'sea of black' swarmed him and got him off the manager. (boucers wear all black..fairly easy to tell us apart from anybody else) They did not come back downtown after that.

Another thing that I found offensive: I am prior military. The 'leader' wore captain's bars on his beret, and the 2nd work Lt's bar....
As I said...fuqqin joke.

I believe he had some sort of lawsuit on them at the time .
Thats one of the things i am wondering about. Considering they use force on people, and are not part of any 'official' public service (e.g. Police). They must have plenty of lawsuits against them by now.

The one good thing they do is show their presence thus discouraging would be jerks.
I agree. Makes those thug-wannabe's think twice. If they are scared at the beginning of their crimminal careers, unlikely they will develop a confidence in continueing.

When they came to Dallas, they were on the radio and in the news because the police and mayor were also not thrilled with them being here

The police here never cared for them much either, but I never really heard them foul up anything.

The Mayor and Police chief didnt say anything negative publically. Silwa did and interview on a local TV station and said that they 'gave him the cold shoulder and were not cooperative'. Way to go to get support of local authorities. I think he was trying to use the public to put preassure on the authorities to accept and support them. He also said he wasnt wanted here because he was American.

That's what he does over here...it works though.

To be honest with you back in the early 80's riding the NYC transit system at night was pretty much dangerouse, and seeing them actually made me feel a little more comfortable. They were very visible in the trains where as you never barely saw a cop on the train.

i have never heard about these guys, sounds pretty gay tho

There was a time where I would have responded to this by saying, "Of course you want him there spending his REAL money." Unfortunately the economy is still in the shitter and our dollar is roughly equal to monopoly money.

Well it was was kinda stupid of him to say that. Consider this. A few weeks prior to Silwa's arrival, Reverend Eugene Rivers from Boston came to Toronto to offer his advice based on his experience and work in Boston which significantly reduced crime. And he met with the Mayor and Police chief. However the rev was 1) invited to come to Toronto and 2) Came to offer his advice and help and not to set up a task force of his own.

Last time i checked, the rev was American :p
