hamstring exercises

there sure aren't that many....that's for sure

yes there are Oak, there are plenty, I bet you didn't know that sprinting stimulates the FTF in your hams making it a great exercise. Training the hams require as different approach than some other muscles.

I like to start with stiffy deads, then leg curls. Hamstrings are biceps too, just like on your arm ;)

I find that stiff leg deadlifts give my hammies the best workout.

I only do SL deadlifts, seated leg curls, and lying leg curls for my hamstrings. Sometimes I use both legs for the curls, sometimes I do one leg at a time.

If you go deep enough and wide enough on squats and leg presses, you'll get some ham work in.

Lunges will hit them too.

You can also go high and wide on the leg press, this is called the duck press.

Standing good mornings are my fave.. :)

You aren't gonna sprint in the gym.We are talking about bodybuilding exercises, not running jogging or sprinting.

Besides the obvious ones......leg curls, seated leg curls (wich are different than lying leg curls), stiff leg dead lifts you can also look at cable hip extension. Put a calble attachment around your ankle, face the machine and move your leg straight back, into extension. This works your gluteus maximus and your hamstings (biceps femoris, semimembrinosis and semitendonosis).

Probably the most overlook hamstirng exercises are anything like a squat. When ever you are down in the hole on a squat, lunge, step up etc. Your hamstings and your gastrocnemius (wich crosses the knee also) are slacking because your knee is bent. In order to get out of the hole form a squat they need to pull tigh to snap your knee back into place so to speak. This alows you to rise up. Then the quardraceps (rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastusl medialis and vastus intermedialis) perform knee extension to finish off the motion (this occurs in about the last 10-20% of a squat. This is why 1/4 squats are so easy and so ineffective.). So the actual movement of a squat is hip extension adn knee extension.

That isn't what the original ? asked, It just asked for hamstring exercises and if you were a BB than you would know the importance of stimulating the fast twitch fibers of the hams and calves for overall development. You cn sit in the gym day in and day out doing little leg curls and see were it gets your hams, you must understand their function to know how to train them.
