I am on a strength training mode and at my age my joints I just can't handle heavy weights for low reps (3-5) per set, particularly for compound exercises like the squat and bench press.
I just started a modified rest pause program that includes only one (long) set of 40-50 reps. I use a weight that I am comfortably tired at 9-10 reps, and then proceed to do another 30-40 reps using rest-pause with about ten seconds in between. If I went to failure I could probably get to about 12 reps with the weight. I also rack the weight between each rest-pause set. At first, the rest-pause is 2-3 additional reps, but by the time I get into the 30-40 range I am only doing singles.
I guess I could try this for a while to see if it works, but in the meanwhile, does anyone see any faults here?
