Alright guys, here's the situation. I recently bought some Phosphagen XT creatine and I'm supposed to consume 10 grams(2 scoops) in around 12-14 oz. of water. The flavor of this stuff is fruit punch but the stuff tastes absolutely vile. I tried just one scoop(5 grams) in like 10 oz. of water and it was soo incredibly bitter I thought I was downing cough medicine. Am I not shaking this stuff vigorously enough or should I just suck it up and try to take this stuff? Should I try to eat something with each gulp. When I try to just drink it w/o trying to taste it, I get nauseous. I thought creatine was suppose to be mostly tasteless? Is there a brand that has NO or very subtle taste which is as effective as this stuff is "suppose" I should try? I need suggestions on what to do.
Thanks in advance,
Sam.

I just have regular old German quality creatine, and mix with my carb-drink for the gym, really dont taste it at all but my 7g is mixed in about 3 cups of water AND I use a blender.

I also use Optimum Nutrition regular creatine and I mix mine w/apple juice or in my post w/o shake. No taste and no "sick" feeling. Get rid of the shit that you have and stick to plain regular creatine from a reputible company.

just my point of view here. It was my understanding that Pure Creatine (such as Optimum Nutrions Creatine) should be taken with Purple (not white) grape juice. Welches preferred. I forget the scientific reasons why but it has to do with the distribution throughout the body.

Yeah, I heard that somewhere too. Back when I was in high school, training for football, I used to take creatine with prple grape juice. However, I recently read or heard (can't remember which) that was a bunch of crap. And that as long as you get it, you'll be fine...most effective post/workout though.

oh, and eat steak! it's where the shit comes from! I think I"m gonna go on an "all steak" diet for a week! :thumb: j/k (or maybe I'm not!) :D

Same here Freeman. I hear it was all hogwash too about the grape juice but I heard it from an advertisement from muslcetech pushing their stuff with their fruit additive. I just know I started it with grapejuice and that's how I do it. Does it really make a difference? Truth is,, I don't know anymore. I can only attest to the fact, when I'm using Creatine and Glutamine,, I see gains so why change something that works right?

I read that purple grape juice is a good liquid to mix your creatine in, but certainly not your only choice. I think pretty much any liquid is good, as long as it's not hot.

Back to the original question, I agree with everyone else: Ditch the flavored crap and buy some German grade 100% pure powder. Powder is flavorless ane inexpensive.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Pro Lab creatine

Use Pro Lab creatine, its called creapure.. Its odorless and tasteless, and it gives you a good bang for your buck... Mix it with a high carb drink and your ready to go!:thumb:

Freeman.. i heard you say eat steaks to get your creatine, umm if you can eat 18steaks for one serving to obtain 20g of creatine.. go ahead.. its easier to supplement....

baboon, depends on the grapejuice.. if its too high in sugar your wasting your time.. drink a sports drink or something like apple juice...

You can buy two 300g bottles from DPS and they give you a Prolab t-shirt. :D I just ordered mine. My Met-Rx creatine is kind of old, so I decided to buy some fresh powder. :D

Ok, basically what I meant was that it doesn't hurt to eat more steak too....also, why would you be taking 20g of creatine a day?

My method is pop it in my mouth take a swig of water, rinse and swallow, then chug at least 8-12oz of water. More water through out the day. As long as you have pure stuff it shouldn't taste like anything at all. I'm pretty sure creatinine tastes very bitter - I tried refrigerating a creatine+whey+milk mix before. 4-5 hours later it was sooooo bitter it was unbelievable. It must have all broken down in the liquid. (supposedly only takes minutes - you should down it as fast as possible otherwise you absorb very little of it)

Today I got a real teaspoon and measured out 5 grams - it's almost nothing. (I guess I've been overdosing for a long time) I imagine you lose most of it on the sides of your cup if you try and mix it as well.

Freeman:... Ok basically you said why take 20g of creatine in a run of a day!! My reply too that is why not! Do you yourself take creatine? If you do you obviously know shit about it.. You can take upwards of 25g a day... The avg person has 100g stored for energy consumption in the skeletal muscles, why not increase this pool by taking more g's per day.. Its not going to hurt ya!

If you are taking 20g of creatine a day, you are absolutely WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
I can miss a day of my 5g of creatine, and my body will STILL have it stored. There is no point in taking 20g, except for the loading period, which I even think is a waste. But, if you want to go on and waste money, I'm not gonna stop you.

If you train hard like most of us do, this creatine will be lost in the ATP-ADP cycle to create more energy!!

Listen, I never said once that I take more then 10g a day! I might take 5g when i wake up and 5g after an intense workout.. I said "you can take upwards of 20g a day"!! Not i take 20g a day, i agree its a scheme to get you too buy more of it! But its all got to do with individual preference and beliefs!

yes, preference. but it doesn't help much to take 20g a day. so you're just wasting your money...if that's your preference, go right ahead.

Again... I am NOT taking 20g a day... I just told you im taking 5-10g a day... I am not wasting nothing!
