Hey,

I'm new to the forum and excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong area. I am 17, almost 6 feet tall and weight around 125-130 pounds. I would like to gain 10-15 pounds within the next few months (if you guys believe that is possible). I was told to take glutamine (before the workouts) and whey protein (after the workouts) and I was wondering if that was a good idea. If not does anyone have any suggestions on what I should take and when?

Thanks

That's fine to do, I wouldn't really think you need glutamine but if it makes you feel better go ahead and take it. Just make sure you are eating a lot that's how you will gain weight.

Not sure what kind you have but 30-50g of protein is good after a workout. I honestly ditched the whey because I don't like the taste and I get enough protein without it. Like I said, just make sure you get enough calories, whole milk is your new best friend.

You'll have to eat first and foremost. forget about the glutamine at your level it is pointless, the whey keep in and use whatever serving size gives you about 50g of protein per serving.

you should look at http://www.ironmagazineforums.com/new-members-begin-here/97077-read-me-first-homework-1-newbies.html Built's guide will really get you heading in the right direction.

at your stats it should be really easy for you to gain weight.

The weight you want to obtain will be easy to obtain with a little bit of work, If you already have the glutamine might as well use it, But if you dont have it scrap it. As for the whey, Always have some Post workout, then about 30 min after you down that find something high in protein to eat.

Your probably still in school, so Make sure you drink a shake and eat a good breakfast every morning, During the day eat what you can at lunch, after school get a shake and a meal in, workout, drink a shake and eat a meal, have dinner, than have something else before bed.

want to be big? EAT BIG!

Youll get there

I'm fan of glutamine, but I prefer to use it intra-workout and post. Recently I've been using powerchews glutamine and bcaas- I chew up a few of each during the workout then a few more as I leave- seems to be aiding in recovery plus they taste great, not to mention the convenience.

never mind glutamine.
take some whey Before workout AND after workout.
i also rec these 2:
Whey To Build Muscle
Creatine orange Tang flavor
and a good multi vitamin, fish oil (3-7g ed) , 500iu vitD.

its mostly diet NOT supps. so you need ot up your cals to like 30o0 or 4000cal every day. with out of that atleast 180-200g protein and ass you put on mass up th protain and cals a bit.
only trial and error will you know how your body responds.

good luck

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Dude supplements are good but they aren't gonna make much of a difference at 6ft 130 lbs. Eat your ass off bro! Only supplements worth your money now is whey protein and a good weight gainer in order to fit more calories in because you obviously have a fast metabolism!

Whats your favorite flavor of the WHEY TO BUIILD protein powder? NTBM has some great flavors. Using the vanilla caramel right now.

If you are new to lifting and at your age I wouldn't focus on supplements right now but for the first 12 weeks focus on getting these three things right: training, diet and rest. You can accomplish your goals and then some if you just execute these right. I would only consider a protein supplement if you have a horrible appetite and can't consume enough protein throughout the day. The right training should trigger your appetite though. Read the stickies. good luck

Food is your friend. Get a good workout routine and plenty of rest. Wheytobuildmuscle is a great option for protein. I would suggest protein around your workout.

As stated above, a good diet and adequate food is essential. Past that I'd go to protein supplementation first and then move into creatine. Also try to switch up your exercise routine to keep things different and make sure your muscles are responding fully.
