HI!Im from Mexico,heres my story....
All my life i was severely underweight, I hit rock bottom on high school when I was ask to remove my shirt for a volleyball practice, everybody stared at me horrirified, all of my ribs were sticking out,I loked like one of the african kids on tv, or someone with AIDSin terminal stage, everybody were commenkting on me the next few days...
So that started the fire, I went into weight lifting and during age 16 to 21 I went to 83 pounds to 145 pounds, all muscle... I know it stil low... ha ha..
But weighting that at 5'10
I parallel squated 251 pounds
and lifted 396 pounds in calf raises..
Bent over 1 arm barbell row 39 pounds
Heres the bad part:
at age 21 I had never did a deadlift before because I never could get a god form, But I made one without warming up my legs and my reght leg snapped, i was almost crying and i had to walk like robocop for a few months, I stopped going to the gym...
6 monts later my leg was fine and I went back to the gym, but suddenly an allergic rash attacked me every time I was going to sweat or my body got warm ( I still have this alergy, it only strike me on winter) and I was very busy with university, had to left the gym once again..
Months later at 22, I wanted to train at home so, slowly I paid to built a new gym room in my house with a squat rack,dumbells and a olympic bar with plates, So I started to train and everything was fine for few weeks, but then every few days my hips started get in pain, the going to the chiropractor after a few weeks the pain went away, but when I resumed lifting it came back in a few days, It was like this like 3 months, so I decided to stop workingout for a while to heal completly, that was like 8 months ago..
Now im 23... in this 8 months the pain didn go away, I was on and off with the chiropractor and taking pills for the pain, some days the pain would go away but always came back... the pain was like this:
Everytime I walk my thigs pinch like needles, when I was doing nothing one of my legs will tingle and pinch or sometimes both legs,sometimes was the left leg, sometimes was the right one, sometimes was my one side of my hips that ached.
So I went to doctor and he ordered a MRI and the results said that I had a disc protrussion (hernia) at L5-S1 and Scoliosis (curvature of the spine) at T12-L1, maybe the hernia was provoked by the heavy squatting combined with the scoliosis..
So I had 8 months doing nothing and lost all my condition, I want to work out again, the doctor says no squats, but hes afraid to tell me when I can start, beacuse he has no experience with weigh lifters, I still have a slight pain in one of the legs 24 hrs , and everytime I walk it hurts a little...
So my question is, all of you who had disc hernia when did you resumed working out? did you have slight pain when you started or did you have to be 100 % pain free before start.. I have heard that if you strenght the lower back and the abs its like a natural corsette that supports the back, if true please give me some routines for this,,, what is your routine?
