Just bought a book that looked good today, "The New High Intesity Training" Its looks very promising and im excited to start using the method after i finish reading it. Does anyone have anything to comment on this book?

I loved the book. The stories were phenominal. My only complaint throughout the book is the full body routines they want you doing.

why is a full body routine bad, at one set per excercise it wont be hard at all to fit it in. the only thing i will do at first is tweak my schedule to include only 2 workouts per week. i dont want to work out all my body parts 3 times in a week.

It's a great program

I used HIT for my first ever contest. Went from 280+ pounds of a blubber ball down to my contest weight of 213 in about 8 months or so. I really liked HIT!!!

If HIT garners nothing for someone, they did it wrong.

I read that book too and incorporate HIT once every couple of weeks now.
I've been noticing new muscularity and vascularity almost every week now for the past couple of months.
Nice. very encouraging.

I totally agree!!!

How do you do HIT in weightraining (as opposed to cardio)?

...or maybe because HIT is not for everyone

Yeah

Just about any exercise program can have at least short term (within 10-12 weeks) benefits.

Im currently doing the MAX-OT program but I think Im gonna try some HIT after that, Anyone got any links or anything that explain the HIT philosophies and might have a routine for me to follow.

HIT did nothing for me

Hit is a good program but for me it is only good for a very short period of time. I will do it once a year only for 4-6 weeks. But any change is good so IMO HIT is very over rated.

I know I just like to change things up, after MAX-OT I'll probably try some HIT out and then do whatever I think will work the best for me, then try something else out ect...Im a firm beleiver that change is good as long as you work hard.

HIT is for people who can "hit" the intensity. It's not for everyone, but anyone who does it correctly will get great results. Personally I know I can't keep that intensity for very long, I start to dread going to the gym but that's just my weakness, not HIT's.

what about the HST (Hypertrophy-Specific Training), I've heard some good things about that program as well.

HIT can be an Incredible tool, IF done correctly!!!

I am doing the first intermidiate routine in Dr. Dardens "The new H.I.T book"
So far I love doing H.I.T and do recommend it.
Here is the routine I am doing for the remaining 4 weeks

leg curl
leg ext
squat
calf raises
pullover
incline press
row
tricep ext
bicep curl
ab crunches

I do 6-10 reps to failure. I was doing the "rush factor" but found I had no strength left for the last few exercises. I now do 1 warmup set and 1 work set with 2 minutes rest between sets.

ICS

Upper
Bench press
Row
Military press
Close pull down
Dips

Lower
Squat 20 rep breathing (i do 3-4 warm up prior on that one, to get my mind focused)

Leg curl
Calfaise

I got this book for my bday. It looks very interesting, definitely gonna try it out.
