How many Guitarists here?

Can anybody recommend a website that offers free guitar tabs that are genuine. Im tired of sifting through rubbish tabbed out by amateurs plus the internet version of tabs are difficult to read compared to the real deal.

I used to use a website that woud give print off an authentic copy of the first page and would leave a watermark on the page but I cant remember what it is called.

If not, I'm currently looking for the tab for "Private Inverstigations" by Dire Straits. I'd gladly help out by scanning and posting my tabs for anybody who needs some sheet music.

He is also the computer geek in the family. I'm sure he'll get right back to me. He always seems to find me great Neil Young stuff for the guitar. Been playing around with fingerpicking lately. Ever seen them live? I saw the Brothers in Arms tour way back when. Expresso love is probably my favorite D.S. tune, but it's hard to say with such a great band. They do such a nice job of combining superlative keyboard work with the brillance of Knopfler's guitar.

Wholenote.com is where I used to get tabs. I went and got classically trained and read music now, which is what I would recommend. Tabs online are hit and miss. Some of them are just posted by someone earing them out. You could do that too. What kind of guitar are you playing? More importantly why aren't you playing a 7 string? MESHUGGAH!!!

Used to use tabcrawler or mxtabs. Not sure if either of these are very reliable anymore. With any free tab site ur gonna have to sift through to find the good ones.

A loooong time ago I found a program u could use to write ur own tabs... I can't even remember what it was called but I was pretty novice with tabs but after I started playing with it I got better and better at looking at the tabs and playing along. It was fun putting down the simple songs I knew and I inadvertently taught myself to read tabs better.

The solo from Highway to Hell is not the best choice for a total beginner. If you son likes AC/DC there is many other cool solos of Angus's that are much easier to play.
What kind of tablature is he reading? Is it genuine tab or the computer version which is often both incorrect and confusing.

Here's a print of the tablature legend for the genuine music. Let me know if your son wants the genuine tab for the song and I can scan and post it.

I wont bother turning it the right way as you'd need to print it off anyways.

Just a few from the metal world. Seven string opens up a whole new world of sound, and surprisingly enough, is easier to play than a six string. A seven string with a Floyd rose Tremolo unit is the creme de la creme.

Try bending your B string at the 8th fret, while simultaneously striking the E string fretted at the 5th fret. While doing this, during your pick attack, slightly graze your picking thumb along with the pick across the strings.This is called a pinched harmonic, but is slightly different. You are essentially doing a pinched harmonic on 2 strings at once. If done correctly, the process I've described will make your guitar sound like it's screaming in agony. Your vocal chords are not exactly in tune so a scream is slightly dissonant causing the sound to be alarming. This can be reproduced by causing two slightly dissonant pitches to sound at once. I've never heard any one else do this before so consider it a freebie. just a discovery I've made.

I sit around a pluck mine to get into an artist state of mind, kind of like Sherlock Homes(RDowney version) plucks the violin while thinking.... I don't know many other peoples music, usually just tap into my own emotions while plucking & strumming...mostly blues, I'd have been a mean bluesman had I put more effort into it....

When I was 14 I did a mean version of Born Under A Bad Sign where I would slap my guitar for emphasis and my friends would be mesmerized by it, thats about one of the only songs by someone else I can play with real emotion...

Oh and if I could sell my soul to the devil I'd do it just to play a 12-string like this:

Yeah WR certainly does sound like he knows his shit and I'd love to hear him play. I must admit though, I not much of a metal head. I enjoy metal but not enough to invest too much time playing it.
I bought a couple of Steve Vai's albums and despite trying to like them, they became boring very quickly. He's an impressive guitarist in what he is able to do however I find that guys such as him are a dime a dozen and their music lacks spirit and soul.

Feel free to post some examples to change my mind WRulers, maybe I'm ust being biased.

AS for Yngwie Malmsteen, I feel its the same deal. Spiritless, soulless player who plays guitar like its a sport and not an instrument. I have "Rising Force" here and the only part of the entire album I enjoyed was where he broke out into a cover of "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix. That vwas the first and last Yngwie album I could be bothered with.

Its a matter of opinion I suppose. Who influences me may not have any influence on somebody else.

I use ultimate-guitar.com. Those official books you get in shops are often wrong aswell. I remember the Pearl Jam official tab book for TEN. 95% Bullshit.

If you're gonna drop 2 G's on a guitar have him play some PRS guitars. Gotta try a bunch out because some sound better than others. I found a limited edition brazilian rosewood single cut PRS. I may have to get burried with that guitar.
