How many of you gear users aspirate?...Tell you the truth, I don't and never have.

Last week I went to my Dr. to get a flu shoot. The nurse was going to stick me in the ass. I asked her to inject me in the delt. The rreason is I wanted to see if she was going to aspirate. So the delt shot it was and no she didn't aspirate.

Now I know the give a lot of shots, but I doubt they know where every vein is.

I've never aspirated, and in the 18 years I've been giving me Dad HRT shots, not one time did we aspirate.

After you insert the needle, you pull back on the plunger to see if your drawing blood which means your in a vein.

I've always aspirated. Chance is very low that you'll inject into a vein, but it takes like 2 seconds to aspirate, and it can save you 30 minutes of coughing and feeling like death.

why would u not aspirate? is the 10 seconds it takes to long to make sure you dont kill yourself?

It isn't easy to aspirate when you have 3cc in the syringe and are giving yourself a glute shot.

I do it on certain injection sites...but it's impossible to do at certain angles so I would say I aspirate 75% of the time.

About the only one that can aspirate when doing glutes is Monkey Man. You know how long there arms are.

same here, i aspirate on thigh shots, but glutes can be a pain in the ass so i tend not to bother

I always have....and glute shots are very hard to aspirate but on the three I've done I tihink I did each time. I don't know why anyone would want to inject without doing it first to make sure you are not going to cause harm to yourself. It takes an extra 2 seconds.

Quad shots = Definately aspirate. Way too many veins to hit in that area. Glute shots.. Rarely aspirate.

What would happen if you inject into a vein?

Most common effect is shortness of breath, coughing and (in some cases) hot flashes to one degree or another. I've never heard of a "fatality" due to steroid injection into a vein.
