your body needs fat. the trick is eating mostly good fats. how much fat you should consume depends on the split of your macros. make sure you get your efa's. they will also help with fat loss as well.
I like to use 0.3 x lean mass as a minimum (with 6g of that being from fish oil capsules). But others suggest other amounts.
The only time when this might be altered is in the final few weeks of competition dieting - and even then I still suggest at least taking the 6g fish oils as a minimum.
In terms of trying to lose fat - fat intake is VERY important in fat loss!! Omega-3 fats (fish oils) have actually been linked to lower BF% and better fatty acid oxidation. So they HELP you lose weight. They also help to keep you healthy whilst you are cutting.
