I am currently lifting weights and have been for around 9 months. I wasted around 8 months because i wasnt eating enough. So the past month i have been eating enough. How much weight should i gain in a week? his week i gained three pounds. is that muscle or fat?

Everybodys different. Don't always go by what the weight scale says. If you are seeing improvements than just stick with it. I don't think all of those 3 pounds are muscle but if you are eating more of the right foods and you are exercising correctly than most of those three pounds should be muscle.

3lbs x 52 weeks = 156lbs...now do you think that would be all muscle???
10-15lbs a year is great progress for a natural lifter..

It is impossible to say. My weight can change 5 pounds daily. The mirror would give you a better idea of fat / muscle gain.

As a relative beginner you could expect around 1 pound a week for a while, but after 4-6 months it should probably slow down unless it's fat.

3lbs in a week is mostly water being held by carbs in your body. Continue that pace and it will be fat in no time. It really depends on how fast you are looking to bulk. I try to gain about 1/2lb a week and no more when lean bulking. I just take it really slow, because of my horrible metabolism.
