I know that if you question your gear, you can push it through a whatman filter and be good to go. I don't really understand how they work, is there a good write-up that explains all this?
How do the filters work? Or how do you filter gear with syringe and whatman?
The watmans 0.22micron filters are a very fine mesh when gear is forced through it only allows particles smaller than 0.22microns through it. In essence microbes are larger than the 0.22micron openings of the filter. Removing all sources of possible infections leaves you with a sterile product. Make sense? Im kind of tired but thats the just of it.
as above i agree, i can imagine its like coffee filter material, this is why it takes a while to push throught, and why your gear is best warmed before it goes thru to aid it thru a bit faster.....
