Is having a good immune system purely genetic, or is there stuff you can do to help it grow strong? I take a multi-vitamin/mineral everyday, and my diet is quite varied/balanced, but I don't seem to be very resillient to getting sick. :(
Is there anything else that can be done?

Cheers

Genes are most important.....antioxidants come next, the immune building herbs, then some speciality products for auto-Immmune disorders..and believe it or not...exercise (but only to a point) and sex ( yes it's proven) help! :D

Oh...and don't forget Glutamine, plus NAC, L-Glutathione (reduced)

Well you will hear about 100 different opinions on this. I did just see a special on the news about this very topic the other day. The special said that doctors don't recommend you use antibacterial soaps when you shower because if you're body isn't exposed to these different bacteria's it can't build a good immune system against them. They also said working out in the morning could prevent you're body from building a strong immune system....sorry I can't tell you why I don't remember. They said working out in the morning prevents you're body from creating something that aids the system. They also said plenty sleep, multivitamins and a good diet were a key element. I'm one of those people that never...well almost never get sick. I think part of the reason why is because I don't take antibiotics unless it's absolutely necessary. Some people take them every time they get a little cold and eventually you're body needs them (antibiotics) because it has never had to build a defense. Anyway, I'm no doctor that's for sure but that's my opinion on this topic.

Ewwwww!!!!!

Morals, Class?????

DP,

Right now I take 3 grams of vitamin c per day ( and 2 grams post-workout ), Twinlab's Antioxidant Fuel ( beta-carotene, vitamin c, natural vitamin e, CoQ10, NAC, l-glutathione, selenium, ALA ) and l-glutamine 20-30 grams/day. I have some vitamin e capsules, but I never take them. Anything else you would suggest? I'm on a tight budget.

Its been said that there is evidence that people who bang more, live longer healthier, happier lives. I dont really doubt it, but what is proof? Studies are proven/misproven all the time, like its impossible to run under a 4 minute mile.

Genetics do play a role in immune system, eating right, and having a REGULAR sleep pattern (and plenty of it) will help your mind and body.
