Hey all just wanted to see what you guys think. Well i have been working out for a while now and use pretty much all free weights, i never did free weight squats, I always did on the hack squat machine and always went up to 4 plates on each side. 2 weeks ago i decided to start doing the reg squats because from reading on here i heard there much better overall(which makes sence). Ok my problem is that im really weak on them i my last set is 225 and i barely get 5 reps(with good form though). I mean i know i just started them 2 weeks ago, but i can 1rm 345 on bench and deadlift 450, and i know i wont try a 1rm on a squat for a while cause it could be dangerous because i work outy alone, but comon i think im really weak now because my strength should be alot more, but you guys have any advice on getting my squat strength up. Thanks in advance :rocker:

well its just gonna take some time till u get used to it, because ur using more muscle groups now that u did not on the heck squat. its the same as if u do only dumbell presses and then switched to bench, then u wouldnt be able to bench alot

It takes awhile to get your form down on a squat. 225 is fine. You have only been doing them for 2 weeks. The weight will come.

Thanks guys,i guess i should not be squatting serios weight yet anyways because i have just started doin them, ill just stick with them every week and adding like 10 pounds every week or something, thanks again :thumb:

I disagree. In my opinion DBs hit you much harder (more stabilizer work, more effective and efficient). I also added 25 pounds to my bench in 6-8 weeks without ever benching; I did DB presses and flies.

I lose on my bench if I only do dumbells. But there is nothing wrong with switching up now and then, for your mind and body.

Well you also have about a 400 bench, if memory serves me correctly. I was never big into bench training after one time when I almost couldn't get the bar up and had not spotter. So basically, I never train bench, make gains with DBs, and then my bench increases because all of the muscles used in it have gotten stronger.
