seriously- the worst car to work on over any other car on the planet- aside from maybe exotics

I found a sweet car crushing gif to go with this -being run over by a tank with a dzn or so arrows in the side of it- but Im stupid to sort out how to post it...file is too big and it was a dodge anyway (cuz crushing volvos is hard)

I've never owned anything f that wasn't made by Ford or GM and I won't. The only exception I make is if I can ever pay cash a maserati granturismo convertible.

add whirlpool duet front load washer and bobby pins to my shit list today

tho- that came apart and was fixed easily enough...so maybe just bobby pins and my daughters inability to keep them out of her laundry

idk- easiest cars I've ever had to work on were 5 series bmws- once you learn their strange parts theyre unbelievably simple and thoughtful to work on- by thoughtful I mean they make sense

next runner up would be old school inline jeeps 4.0, 4.2 - super simple, after that old ford and gm (carb) motors and carb inline 4 cyl motorcycle engines
my audis arent bad - lots of tedious parts - but ultra easy to diagnose with the right software

This man knows what's good. Three fords and two dodges in my driveway. No gm's, but would no doubt buy one over a fucking volvo...or audi..or any foreign garbage. Just the way I was raised I suppose.

What about your old ford diesel you had? Was a fun truck, yes?

I thought volvos were well made cars?

I liked the old diesel Ford. Skyjacker soft ride and 38" tires too. Reverse synchro had a scuff but at least it wasn't an automatic.

I can't stand a Japanese car at all..i like some American cars but honestly the euro cars blow them out of the water in performance, handling, ride and quality of materials...oh...and fuel economy

Word. Have a 95 f350. On 40's. Manual tranny also. Love driving that pig. I believe you and I pmed back and forth a bit about these trucks here a few years back.

I didn't know ford owned volvo?!

Ya I remember the Ford powerstroke chit chat...

Ya..ford owned volvo for a bit...i think they may no longer own them? In 2000-2003 volvo had massive transmission problems after never having probs-ford did that
Volvo is amazing in that every conceivable safety on a car was most likely originally invented ..tested and implemented by volvo. Then they hold the patent for an incredibly short period of time like two years and release the patent for every other car manufacturer to use-with the idea that they just want people to be safe-not make money off it. Then there is weird stuff like their leather tabbing is unique in that it doesn't have environmental pollutants and the air dams on the front of the car have some unique action that turns air around in such a way to remove pollutants and make clean air....its neat stuff.
I like the curry hooks in the trunks. Lol-good for hanging stuff so it won't spill.

Idk..i just wish their software wasn't such a bitch-theyre fussy as hell...and I hate a timing belt -i liked bmw because they still used a chain
The low pressure turbo inline 5 cyl is way snappier than you'd think in such a heavy car tho.
They have a Subaru style awd I don't like tho...fwd dominant -i like audis rwd dominant add.

Volvo claims they'll have a car that you couldn't die in by 2020-thats a very ambitious statement

Idk. I got old and weirdly safety conscious. The car I got mynolddsr daughter had a decent safety rating but I knew the driver was likely to strike their head on the b-pillar in almost any type of accident and it kept me up at night. Sure as he'll. She got in a accident with it and hit her head on the b-pillar. I scrapped the car and bought a newer car that has bags in the b-pillar with a better safety rating..even if it is a convertible

My fav to work on is the old Ford FE; I have several from the oldest a 1961 Starliner to the newest a 74 F100 4X4, Mustang Bronco and Galaxie in between. Just love the sound of the old FE winding up!

Volvo seems.pretty enginuitive from what you say. Didn't know any of that stuff either.

..
I only know because I was certified in volvo sales for a bit
you have to take a million training modules- ditto for any other auto manufacturer

I was volvo, dodge and saab certified

oh, and gm owned saab- and is actually what drove them into the ground

my 99 9-3 had gm stamped on the calipers and all the ac lines
also had a subaru on board computer..lol

2000 and up saab's - the 9-3 is a malibu..don't believe me - put two pics together. same car
the 9-7x was a blazer platform..lol

I forgot is sood for ford edsel- i had to look it up

my first car was a 1970 mustang grande, green ivy gold - with comfort weave..lol -302 automatic- not exciting but still used to beat up a friends pos camaro
I owned that car from the time I was 16 until i sadly had to sell it when I was 30- I just couldnt store it because the ex bled me dry financially- I kept moving it between friends shops and just ran out of places to stash it

Those old fords are tough trucks. I have a 1965 ford f100 with a 352ci in it. Yes, 352 not the 351. It was my dads truck. You know the trucks, the ones that have the little tool box in the lower part of the bed. It is nothing special, needs a full restore, but it can sit for a year plus on end and I can go and put a battery in it, put some air in the tires and a splash of gas and the thing fires right up and purrs. Drive great. Three on the tree, glass pack dual mufflers. Thing is fun to Drive and moves pretty good for an old rust bucket. Speaking of its been a year plus, time to go take the tarps off it and wheel it around the streets for a bit. I'm a fan of old school fords for sure.

Many years ago my mom owned a saab, bright orange in color. Have no clue if it was a stock color or not? She loved that car. I remember my dad saying that car would go anywhere any any condition. Literally push snow with the front bumper without a problem moving. she totalled it in a wreck, every once in a while she talks about how she wishes she still had that car. I've got a picture of it somewhwhere I'll have to dig up and post, I'm sire you would know what year and model it was from the sounds of it.

ya- my husband got tired of the saab and we sold it to our neighbor- with snow tires the thing is a ridiculous tank in the snow
our neighbor loves the crazy thing
I was always amused when non saab people would need to move the car for some reason and the confusion at how to start it..lol
