When I quit drinking I began to develop my other hobbies. Scuba, sky diving, creek fishing, bass boat outings, getting bent up while working on my MMA, weight training, racquetball, internet, paintball and dirt bike ridding with my son, HD TV, canoing, and hiking are all the stuff that kills my time these days.
I had to make the adjustment from a "night-life" to a real life, but my life is way more fulfilling for the effort. That entire bar scene got stale ... and costly. I also smoked cig's then so it added up to way more than I even thought it was. Not to mention I don't get into near as many fights these days.
Life is a drug ... the more ya do the more addicted you get. Prolly cost ya around $160 to get your scuba cert. Dive gear rental for the weekend under $100. I'd easily spend more than $100 in a weekend drinking. It's way more fun to feed weenies to catfish.I'm in a "transition" right now. I Agree, the night-life is fun to a point.....but after 7-8 years of it, I'm sick and tired of it. You got a nice list of hobbies there to replace weekend drunkeness.
I wouldn't mind having a kid in the near future, but gotta find a wifey first. Great women don't come around too often.
\damn.....miss those drugs though.
I've never liked clubs, mainly because I don't enjoy dancing unless I'm pretty buzzed or drunk and I find them to be far less of a social atmosphere. Luckily where I live bars are more popular than nightclubs, although that may change in a year when I move on out of here.I out grew clubs 10 years ago. I do love to go the bar though to watch various sports games and then I'll drink some beers but to go out to a club is boring to me.
Well It happened my first year in college, I was at this girl's birthday party drinking mixed drinks (I can't handle hard liquor, I'm a lightweight when it comes to it) got completely smashed. Then became friends with this girl's neighbors some how and we went back to the party. While I was gone from the party three other guys came in and started to drink too, by that time I was really messed up and blacked out. Next from what I heard, one of the three guys was talking about his karate background, trying to impress the ladies I guess, and I replied "karate is for little kids and stay at home mothers who have nothing better to do". He then proceeded to get in my face, where I headbutted him. Being as drunk as I was, the headbutt was the only effective strike I landed on the three men. I was easily taken down in had my ribs and stomached kicked to all oblivion ( my face was fine except for a bloody nose). After that my new friends from across the street took me to their house and let me crash on the couch. The next morning was probably the scariest day of my life being barely able to breathe and not knowing where I was.
One bad night like that will cancel out thousands of great nights drinking in my book.
Oh yeah I forgot about the massive amounts of chemicals I'm on 95% of the time I guess I do them so often now I don't even factor them in any more, I just took 10 Tylenol 4's and some valium...about to take some muscle relaxers and lay in bed with my Kerouac Dream book I usually end up having some wacked out dreams on nights like this...I was expecting a different response from you.
