I'm not street. I'm an educated man. I have also took the brunt of the law to protect my friends twice. I paid my fines, jumped through the hoops, and came out squeaky clean. It was hard. It was real hard. I was on probation from the age of 15 to 18, then I was on probation again from 18 to 20. I made some real bad decisions that bit me in the ass, but the difference was I maned up to it rather than ratting out my friends, and the people who know me best respect me for it.
It really just amounts to loyalty.
Now I think I have harped enough on the kid, so I'll let up.
Here is the deal ras, your sister will probably do pretrial diversion which allows her to pay her fines, and serve probation at which the end of it she will have her record thrown out. She will have a squeaky clean record once her probation is complete. But, you will need a lawyer to set all of this up. My lawyer cost me $2,500. You are probably going to need a lawyer to get out of this one.
isn't that basically a "deferred sentence"?

No. Pretrial diversion means you plead guilty, you will be convicted, but you are not adjudicated. They hold your record while you serve your probation, then if you do all of the things they tell you to, your record is swept under the rug like it never happened. When companies run background checks on you, your record comes back clean, although there is a paper trial of what happened, only high level government agencies like the FBI can access it, and only by warrant.
Where is Decker when you need him. He could probably explain this better.

Make sure you go to court dressed properly and show a lot of respect.
I don't know how your State handles these things but if it's your first offense you will get cumminty service....your age helps you out a bit.
Next you do something stupid have a excuse ready before hand, or even better don't do nothing stupid.
Nahhhh brother K. Some states it's a DWI, while in other states it's a DUI. Some drunk ass punk got caught driving going to jail with a different label on the paper work.

It helps if your parents are there, also. My parents supported me during my retard moments, and I think that helped. I wore my Sunday's best, and spoke respectfully with a "yes sir no sir" southern charm.

I tell my kids that to Teachers, adults, Police or anybody with authority you have to show them respect.

Good point. If I were you, ras, I would try to pay for your sister's lawyer somehow as a token of how sorry you are for what you did.

When I went to court, the judge sent a guy to jail for 15 days for contempt of court, because he was dressed like a gang thug. The judge said "and next time you better come to my courtroom dressed like a decent human being!"
That shit was hardcore.
