Hi....guess this is the place where I give ya'll a few words about who I am. ..so here goes...
I'm a novice lifter - actually someone who just started doing this all more seriously about two years ago, and since I'm 49 years old, I've approached it all with caution. I am a writer and went back to earn my PhD in Communication a couple of years ago, and decided that I wanted to change the way I looked and felt...so I started doing a combination cardio/resistance training schedule that helped me cut 20lbs, add some muscle and reduce my bodyfat from 20% to about 12% right now. I'm still real careful about larger free weights, opting to start my training on Nautilus machines until I felt comfortable with movement...and have made my mistakes. I've had rotater problems (though I've done lots of therapy and exercises to strengthen them) and am learning to make the adjustment to the big boy's room (free weights) slowly but surely.
Right now I'm at almost 5'10 and about 180...with a 44c, 32w, and nearly 15"arms..nothing amazing but incredible for me after being a 42c and 34/35w two years ago! I've taken up gym classes with many young college students here at the University, and have found I can still hold my own...well, mostly...hehehe...
Hmm..well, i guess that's about it to start...except I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all of you - and admire how disciplined and dedicated ya'll are.
Kevin
