..and you have never been to a tropical island, nor have been on a cruise, but you really want a widescreen digital tv. You also love football (college preferably, but NFL the pats and the titans) and love to snowboard. You also would love to increase your guitar skills.

dONT matter if your a guy or a girl. Whats a better birthday present??????????

Your budget is no more than you have to spend. But if your gonna spend something, its gotta be worth it.

a cruise is all inclusive. we can drive down to the departing dock.
a resort is all inclusive, but airfare is not included
everything else speaks for itself.

help me I cant decide what to get my fiance!!! :headbang:

1) A 5 day cruise to the Carribean
2) A resort on a tropical island
3) A widescreen t.v
4) Pats tickets and guitar lessons
5) Condo on a mountain to snowboard

I haven't been on a cruise, but if you're a drinker, it can get more expensive because I understand drinks are not included. I have a big screen TV and it's only purpose is that it's great to battle my daughter on Playstation.

I'd suggest the tropical getaway and bring the guitar!

other remarkably extravagant suggestions are welcome too but im not into spending more than $1500. actually, the less the better. :hmmm:

you correct ... ok, less is better ... hhhhmmmm, does she have a guitar? If so, is it a nice one? Maybe a nice guitar ...

Although the snowboarding option seems pretty cool ... :)

Trips are nice, but temporary. Bigscreen is nice erverday if you like sports and dvd's and like NT said, XBOX!! Not much into drinking so I would pick 3 or 4.

yes, he already has two guitars. snowboarding i did last year, i will do it again, but what works is we both have exactly one week off in october and i dont think the northeast has snow by then.
So i thought going away would be best. But a tv is good too.. a cruise is good. a trpoical island would be best if i could find cheap plane tickets.
im in a rut. i cant just by him a diamond necklace and make him happy. LOL LOL :)

which one would you remember forever?

If I had to pick between a tv and ballgame, I would go with the bigscreen. I've had one for almost 2 years and would be lost without it. (my kids too!) If you get married, you can put the wedding on dvd and watch it on bigscreen!

You will remember the trip forever if you make it the right one...why not do something cool and different than a regular cruise or vacation? Learn how to mountain climb, surf...ride horses...whatever. Do a search on adventure tours and I'm sure you'll find lots of stuff.

Cruise, bring booze with you!! and rum is 5 bucks a bottle in most of the islands! Also you can eat eat eat. Most ppl do not know this but when you board ask for an upgrade, you will usually get it free of charge. And you can aslo order a continental breakfast for free to nibble on before you go to breakfast. Just bring enough cash for tip outs, put it in envelopes before you board and you will be safe,, have fun remember you only live once have a good time NOW

a trip in my opinion is more memorable. A TV is always there, but for me, it can't create speical moments as a trip can ... especially if it's on a tropical island with sun and fun.

you know what else, the week right after is our anniversary. So to make it even most memorable would be great.
is booze allowed on ships? i think the only extra spending would be on excursions and drinks. tips i guess.

ponyboy - maybe we'll go snorkeling all week long. i would love to go horseback riding, but to do that on a tropical island, ive got not a clue. maybe renting jet skiis for a day if we go on a cruise.

maybe a widescreen would be a better christmas present. i have no idea.

im leaning towards a cruise, tv, and tropical trip. which of these threee would you remember if you have never had any?

good point nt and sawheet.

ok. narrows down to two:
cruise, meals are already included (extra $ for excursions, booze, and tips)
all inclusive resort (extra $ for air)
:hmmm:

No booze is not allowed, just stick it in plastic bottles in your bags, or just stick it in them. run to your room fill up and go back down to whatever you are doing, or pay 6 bucks for a shot of watered down cheap alcohol.

If you have the cash just keep an eye out for an all inclusive trip somewhere, if you see a good sale grab it. Sometimes you can get a good deal close to the date you want to go because some of these charter groups want to sell off the few spots they have left. And you can find good deals on all inclusive trips with air included. Plus if you go all inclusive and are on a tight budget you know that if all else fails you go back to your hotel and eat and drink for free (well kinda).

I would go for the trip, cruises don't apeal to me much. Just my opinion :thumb: :D

great ideas guys.

now next question, do you guys think the carribean is the place to go? went to the bahamas, and thought it was way too boring. its also hurricane season and i only have a week. i think aruba is really expensive.

am i doing the right thing here? anyone have any better ideas that are like an oooo wow present? LOL :)

Get naked a tie a big red bow around you!!
:D :thumb:

if its a cruise and driveable like you said, you should surprise him with it. go on a road trip or something (so you'll already both be packed) and then when you get to the dock and he sees all the ships, you can surprise him.

my ex boyfriend did that for me, and i have never forgotten that LOL :)

My hubby and I went on a 7 day cruise to the Carribbean and we loved it!!! Highly recommend it!!!

There are all kinds of excursions you can go on... we went sailing, snorkling, shopping, and a hiking tour of one of the islands to swim in a pool under a waterfall...

You can buy alchohol duty free on the islands but when you get back on the ship they will take it and hold it for you until you leave at the end of the cruise.

Ashtyn, that would be wierd if i tell him to pack a suit and shoes and a whole bunch of bathing suits though wouldnt it?

butterfly, where in the carribbean did you go? is it very touristy and crowded? im aiming for more of a secluded island. im thinking of cozumel but dont know anything about it

Well if things don't work out with your current guy I am 26 next year and I like the carribbean  :hehe: :eyebrow:

I have been all over the carribean, Aruba too expensive yes, bahamas kinda boring. The lower islands are great, Grenada, St Lucia, Barbados....anyway you only have a few hours in each port so no time to get bored. You will be busy partying and sleeping in the sun anyways!! Getting jealous need to go on one real soon!!

ive never been to cozumel, but ive been to barbados and aruba. they are expensive but they are the nicest i think. where is the cruise going to?

:thumb: agreed!

Cozumel is nice, so is Playa Del Carmen on the main land. If this is where you are thinking about going you can still get some good deals on meals and a night out if your a little more adventurous and get away from the big resorts. Also if you know a bit of spanish and actually making an attempt to use it will go a long way with the locals, means better deals :thumb: If I had the cash I would be on my way back there right now .... oh yeah there is a nude beach in front of Playa Del Carmen :dancer:

Ya but usually the nudes are old and fat:barf:

AM is plaza del carmen in cozumel? if i go on the cruise i think we dock at 8:00am and then leave at 10:00pm i hope that would be enough time. as for the deals, i havent the faintest idea of where to look.

sawheet lol, at least i can come back without tan lines.

I would still just go if i could find an all inclusive deal, but everything ive been finding is over $1600. thats pretty steep. any ideas on where to find the deals?
