Journey to the XPC Arnold Bench Qualifier

I started it :) I got a new video I will post in a few gotta do some work first
 

Sunday is always accessory work.
Did 5x5 with the buffalo bar 285lbs. Strict pause at the bottom and practiced my leg drive as well.
After this we took a break and did max effort push press (video above) got 275lbs. Can't complain with that. Last time I failed to get 275 and it took me two attempts to get 250lbs. So this is a 25lbs PR.

After the push press i kinda forget to right everything down because really who cares? Some triceps with the dumbbells and bands, then some pulldowns. Yippee :)

Today was doubles on squats. Not bad.
Today: 375 + 80lbs of chains for a double
2 months ago: 405 + 60lbs chains for a single.

Can't really complain.

After this did 10 sets of practicing my deadlift, modifying my technique.

Then 8 sets of the GHR
 

Very nice grinder on the heavy bench. 405lbs + 80lbs in chains (approximately some links were not off the ground).
After this max we worked up to 315 + 80lbs of chains for some tricep presses, off of a 3board.
Then I did a few sets with the football bar just to work on stability and that is a weakness of mine.

After that just did some triceps and face pulls nothing crazy.
chains gassed me.
 
That's a serious bench there brother. Great job.
Thanks man I have some new videos I need to upload. I might need to take a recovery week my arm injury is flaring up driving me nuts
 

Very poor deadlift day last Saturday. Did a lot of technique work. Working on lowering myself to the bar properly and pulling in. Actually botched it in this video. But am definitely taking some steps backwards here (in weight) in order to make some steps forward and progress.

I have the technique down now for pulling myself into the bar (still need to keep practicing) but I also now need to work on making sure my glutes fire more (which currently is not happening. Looks like we will be doing a lot of kettlebell swings to fix this.
 
Notice I am lifting with my back and my glutes aren't pulling ? GOtta fix that shit.
 
EPIC frigging squat day ! :)
So my competition PR is 450... Today I smashed 475 on my 2nd attempt. My first attempt I fail, lost my air at the bottom and didn't get it... Tried again and absolutely smashed it.
Can't wait to compete again :) I will be at 500 in no time

After squats I did some speed pulls about 6 sets *was a bit too heavy*
Then some GHR and hyper extensions for the win :)

My thoughts on PSL Gear.

A bit more PIP then I am used to but damn this shit is going good. The M1T definitely has a big of a bang for the buck. I feel stronger on it and ready to smash. However my liver also feels it.

I love the test / eq combo. Nice and mild on the sides and I really feel great.

What products are you experiencing post injection pain with?
 
Very nice reverse band training session today. Went a bit too heavy on the 2nd set and failed... Remember the goal is to NOT FAIL. SO I was very happy that I recovered and dialed it in just right on that third set and got my peak / grinder and was able to complete the rep.


After this we played around with some volume with 185 / 225 / 245 and just did a little bit of rep work.

Then we did a few tripples with the pin presses (working the lockout) I was able to get 405 for 3 then 425 for 2 then 455 for 1. Then we dialed it down to 315 and did some reps (one set) and polished it off. The triceps were DONE.

Then just some back work and flyes with some bands.
 
Another good work out ckcrown you got what it takes. I wonder what the competition is going to be like. How well do you think you compare at this point?

I'm a 475 bench off a two board now I won't know my regular bench off the chest for two weeks
I'm 216 lbs the qualifier bench at 198 is 445
Sooo how do I compare? Let's diet down a few pounds and the qualifier should be an easy smoke show and the goal will be 500 or more at 198 at the Arnold making me top 3 in the nation...
 

Heavy accessory movement. Yes these were a tad high, but my training partners are taller then me so it was a fine compromise. Got a nice PR and was happy with that !

After the heavy accessory I did

3 sets of walking lunges (nothing crazy)
10 sets of leg extensions
10 sets of glute ham raise.

Boom

Side note: Glute Ham Raise properly executed is HARD. I am getting better at them though. The goal is to be able to do 5 sets of 20.
Hah not even close yet!

This is bad... I benched 470lbs last competition and i'm down 20lbs... very frustrating.

Going to reevaluate my training cycle Tuesday and focus on growing my lats more so my transition from the bottom to the top is smoother on the bench.

That isn't good! Have you dropped calories, increased your work load, not been sleeping well, or are you injured? You have to get your lifts in order so you can win this competition!

My weight is up. Calories have not dropped (diet has been fairly consistent). and no I am not injured.

Okay guess I am over-do for an update.
First of all we all know I had a really horrible bench session last Thursday... Even failed a weight I could rep a month and a half ago. That was a surprising blow.
Granted my cycle has changed, compounds have changed, and dosages have changed...However I was NOT expecting such a drastic fall in my 1rm (approximately 30lbs).

Some upcoming changes.
Change 1
Fat loss focus (I may request these compounds from PSL). We are going to change my training/diet to emphasize some loss of FAT and maintain LBM. This will reduce my total weight and help me drop a weight class in competition while maintaining strength and musculature). Expect lots of Tilapia in my future...

Change 2
Training change. I won't know any more specific details on training changes until tonight. However, I will be now doing a very BRIEF workout on Mondays. The focus of Monday workout will be strengthening my core, growing my rear delts, and growing my Lats. These are 3 weaknesses that need to be addressed. The Monday sessions will consist of 2-3 movements in each category. Primary Movement for Lats will be McGill Pullups. a NOTE to everyone watching. The drop in my bench is NOT a result or reflection of PSL gear. His m1t is powerful and if everyone remembers I had to discontinue use.
I am running a low dose 250 test / 500 EQ as of right now (with intentions of increasing). I feel great, my sex drive is Okay, and I have ZERO experience with EQ but I feel good and it is certainly no highly anabolic nor androgenic so it is not ideal for PL. I chose this compound because of its appetite qualities, and mild side effects.

Remember when i benched 470 I was on
500 test / 500 Tren E / 50mg Anadrol and hell I am sure I am forgetting something.

This right now is a TRAINING issue not just a GEAR issue. SO just want to point that out
