I'm ready to start pumpin iron again, thank god. I was at it for 2 years straight and then this past summer I became a damn alcoholic, which made me lazy as shit and I lost all motivation to get to the gym. Then I broke my hand which has kept me out of the gym also but now I'm ready. I'm gonna start back up Monday and man am I dreading the soreness and pathetic feeling of putting up pussy weight. I was actually a strong little dude and now I'm a nobody again...Fucking alcohol. I just hope my hand is gonna be ok, I know my grip strength is nowhere close to where it was but I think it will be alright.

I know this should maybe be in the training section but I like all you open chat guys better then those meat heads(P-Funk;) ) in the training forum.

Good luck Fletch. Did you put on a lot of fat with your lay off/ alcohol binges?? Just curious.

Nope, not at all. I kinda wish I would of so I have something to work with. It's so hard for me to bulk, but I've noticed in the past any time I have a lay off and get back in the game I gain around 10 lbs in the first month or two. Which is good for me but then I can't gain any more. We'll see what happens this time.

for what it's worth, I broke my wrist a while ago... It hurt like a mofo when I started back at the gym, but over time it's as good as new! It will probably take a while.
 
What supps did you get for your return???

Just some cee, activate, rebound reloaded and your typical protein. Nothing real crazy, just a little something to help out the return.

Ya, I'm sure it will hurt at first. It really affects my grip strength, which during upper body, is involved with everything.

I used to have one. Once I start seeing results I will stay motivated. I tend to get bored when I start to hit a wall, but when girls start trying to rip your shirt off in public places because they think you are ripped that kinda helps to keep you going. I honestly blame the whole alcohol thing on my last stop, I know I only have myself to blame but it really did make it hard.

I'm back bitches, watch out.

I just started again about 3 weeks ago after a 5ish month layoff.
Just be progressive and start light. Don't jump in and try to do what you used to, or even close.

Trust me, I won't try heavy. Unfortunately my hand won't let me do that. I figure as I move up in weight, my hand will strengthen with it.
 
Good job, I put my alcohol tendacies aside at the beginning of the year. I had to it was fattening me up.

I know how you feel, i was drinking heaps too and broke my hand. I returnd to lifting after 4 weeks (early) only to get in a fight and break my finger. Sooo, I havn't been drinking during the week this last month and been workin out too.

You have had a longer break but you'll get back there soon.
 
Well, I finally went to the gym today and damn I'm weak. I used to be one of the strong guys in the gym and now I'm like a 15 girl...I fucking hate being the gym pussy. I kept it pretty light and simple today, I didn't want to overwork my hand but damn, it still hurt pretty bad. I also weighed myself for the first time in a long time and wow...I lost about 15 pounds. This is the lightest I've been for years.

I'll never quit lifting again...
