I had no TV in my room and was denied many things. My parents were very very strict. No compromises. I turned very very bad and then left home at 16....

Well.....w8 and I never had a t.v. in our rooms or computers in our house, but that was just from lack of money.
I understand the whole rebellion thing, but I also believe in setting limits. He'll get the t.v., there will just be rules he has to follow to maintain it. 
well, whats funny is that i have to threaten my step kids by taking away the computer when they dont do daily house chores, my gawd, you would think the world was coming to an end. but after its all said and done, things get done.

I had nothing as a child, but like rob said it was lack of money
....but, my mother was also very strict...in a stupid way, and I understand what you're saying....we're also strict, but in a much more common sense way, our children are well behaved and know their limits, and they are allowed to do almost anything they want to do as long as they ask, and it's reasonable. So while we're strict, they also have a lot of freedom and I don't worry about rebellion...................yet lolI think the TV is a good thing at this point...and i'm glad we w8ed till now to give it to him.

you should buy your kids some damn books. Kids these days don't read enough, all they do is get stimulated by tv, video games and computers. I never had a tv in my room or wanted one, i personally don't like tv. I have one, but i have 2 channels, all i watch is the news.
