Lance Armstrong Asks Audience to Assume He Used Steroids
By Millard Baker

American cyclist Lance Armstrong recently asked an audience to imagine a scenario in which the allegations that he used performance-enhancing drugs were true. Several former teammates of Lance Armstrong has claimed to have direct knowledge of his use of the anabolic steroid testosterone, human growth hormone and the blood booster erythropoeitin (EPO). Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis and Frankie Andreu have all accused the seven-time Tour de France champion of doping. Teammate George Hincapie also allegedly make similar allegations before a federal grand jury investigating Armstrong.

Armstrong addressed an audience of approximately 500 people during the Aspen Ideas Festival sponsored by the Aspen Institute. Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson introduced Armstrong and stressed that the cyclist has “steadfastly denied” all allegations of steroid and PED use.

Armstrong told the audience that the fact he passed over 500 anti-doping tests should conclusively prove that he never doped. Nonetheless, Amstrong asked attendees to assume that even if all the allegations were true, is it really the role of the government to conduct an international witch-hunt targeting athletes that may have used PEDs?

“I’ve been asked by many people, what could a retired cyclist from Austin, Texas have to do with a federal investigation based in Los Angeles and led by the Federal Food and Drug Administration? Let’s just assume that everything that’s said is true. What’s next? Are we going to start policing cricket or things overseas?” Armstrong wondered. “You laugh because it seems absurd.”

Lance Armstrong is reportedly under investigation by the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. The media has reported that a grand jury is considering whether to indict Lance Armstrong on charges that he defrauded the United States government while he worked for the U.S. Postal Service cycling team. Since the U.S. Postal Service is a government agency, federal investigators want to claim that Armstrong defrauded the government by using anabolic steroids and erythropoeitin (EPO).

Our laws with regards to this subject are bullshit. and there is the contrast of the shit that is legal and the benefits and concerns are in stark contrast.... We're being run by a ship of fools.

if you are going to bring lance up on steroid charges. then bring the rest of the goddamn team up aswell. everyone in pro cycling juices. its a known fact. even all those guys on the postal team did. so who are people like hincapie to say lance juiced.
well guess what, you juiced too. if you want to bring lance up on charges bring up the whole tour de france riders aswell. they are all doping

Everyone during Lance's Era doped. Ullrich, Basso, Millar, Mayo...you name it. Hell Operacian Puerto destroyed the entire peloton when it hit.

The governing bodies who are going after cyclists are shady to begin with. Case in point, Alberto Contador. Guy failed a drug test after finding trace amounts of Clenbuterol in his system. This was last year and they are still pushing back his case.

Big George supposedly denied any talking about Lance using PEDs. As it is, he is one of the most respected riders in the entire peloton, by both American and International fans. If and when he DOES finally stand in front of a jury and states, "Yes, Lance doped...we all did!" then Lance will be SOL.

Hamilton and Landis are scum who are after money. Both of their asses are broke from all the legal battles they are going through. If you watch the 60-minutes interview with Hamilton, a blind retard could tell that his body-language was one of someone who was lying.

I really do not care if Lance used or not. For 7 years he was the BOSS of the tour. Even the greats such as Jacques Anqueti used amphetamines. I will say this though, the "doped" tours were some of the best around. From 1998-2005, every day was intense and awesome to watch. Now, you have to wait until the final couple of days to get any action :jerkit:

yes djlance, agreed. all those other riders are juiced and none of them can touch 7 t.d.f victories. so that explains itself.

150+ riders every year in t.d.f. 1 winner juiced or not

Exactly. If Contador hadn't been "almighty" and rode the other grand tour earlier this year, he would have had the legs to easily beat down Evans and the Schleck brothers.

People fail to realize that Lance was a freaking Drill Sergeant when it came to preparing for the tour. I mean, while other riders were enjoying other rides or even the holidays, he was up on Alpe D'Huez, dragging Johann behind him in the team car for hours on end. The guy would weigh his food religiously and was a master at numbers. He knew every single dimension on his bike and demanded only the best from his company supporters.

Drugs or no drugs, he was and will always be the best TDF rider. Hell he is still competing in various races and beating newbies 10-15 years younger then him.

jeez have some sympathy people. He deserves another testicle like the rest of us. A few cc's of test here an there is only fair >.>

Would test help a rider out? Because of the higher RBC?

Aids in recovery. They pin EPO to increase erythropoiesis.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Recovery. Got it. That makes sense they ride for day's.

Fuck the government and the FDA. How did this branch become so powerful?

We all know Lance did EPO. So what all the other rider's did too. He is just good. The government needs to get the fuck out of sport's. They lie because they are afraid of the repercussions. Let them come out and say it.

EPO didn't make Lance a good rider. He was already good. Steriods didn't make Barry Bonds a good hitter. He was already a boss.

Who knows of a popular professional sport where the athletes don't dope?

Seriously the big issue here is the use of tax dollars, who gives a fuck what they put into their bodies, me paying to investigate it is the true travesty!

with all of the problems in the world, how can the gov't justify spending and wasting money on whether or not a guy used supplements (which every other athlete uses too) in the name of what? big freaking deal...

to be honest, considering how many hundreds of millions he's raised for cancer awarenes and research, if he were brought down now, any future money wouldn't be raised because of this 'black cloud' ... i say leave the guy alone so he can continue to raise money for cancer, that is a far bigger issue than a tour win several years ago!

and yes, this area is important to me since i've lost several close people to cancer

x2 here

Didnt he beat cancer? So dude survives cancer, and wins 7 tour de france and now does work for the greater good, and you wanna shit all over his dream life? I think the morality attached to professional sports is twisted. How bout that part of Bigger Faster Stronger where the older gay dude with AIDS is walking around looking healthier than half the 23 year olds I know.. pfft!

Beyond true. Pro sports should be like Pro Racing. Put the newest hottest equipment in the car and go win with it. Once a proven formula works and wins, then put it in the cars sold to public.
Pro sports: allow the top athletes to tell the public what they are taking and stacking and show what their year round cycle is. You would have a very educated population of everyday athletes following a better and safer path.

Yea, but they were able to snatch up everyone else. They were able to catch them during Operacion Puerto, which were the "Puerto 9"

Ulrich, Basso, Mayo even Contador's ass was caught. The French despised Lance for whipping their ass so many times. I mean seriously, the guy was almost 40 and if he hadn't had crashed 3 times in his last tour, he would have been on the podium.

I still wear my bracelet and have a box of them because of the millions of dollars he has been able to raise through his liveSTRONG campaign. The peloton and the tour have been dead for years. This past one was boring as hell.

Prosecutors Close Armstrong Inquiry, No Charges

YouTube Video

Federal prosecutors dropped their investigation of Lance Armstrong Friday, ending a nearly two-year effort aimed at determining whether the 7-time Tour de France winner and his teammates participated in a doping program. (Feb. 3)

Funny thing is, Contador's fate is going to be revealed this coming week.

In regards to Lance, 2 years and millions of dollars wasted just to drop the case? Yea that could explain the huge ass debt our economy is in. Wasting money in places that it didn't new to go.

gov't not smart at all. when we are in this economic cituation they are using there money on this stuff. and people like bonds, and clemens, and so forth.

Well kick ass and take names man! We all wish you the best :winkfinger:

just like pro bbing. many guys use the juice in high amounts and so forth, but not many guys touch physiques like we see on the 15 guys that stand on the o stage every year. so there you go.

EXACTLY! There are none! But the American public believes everyone is "natural." It's ridiculous.

A very intresting read! I think this happens in all sports no matter what. Also it can be hidden well or not very well
