Hey there guys! I am just starting to get back into lifting after about a year off. So today I did chest/tris and it didnt turn out so great. I mean I felt my chest being worked but my left side felt the pump more. When I did barbell presses, my left side felt more worked out than my right so I decided to switch to dumbell presses. I did one set of these and felt the same results so I then decided to alternate between left and right dumbell presses individually (like my right arm does one rep then my left and continous until I achieved a set of 10 reps) but what happened was on my left arm I could only get 4-5 reps out while on my right was felt like I could pump out 10. What should I do? Should I go down in weight or should I keep the same weights but when my left feels dead, just drop the weight and continue with the right?

if you do that though your left arm is never going to catch up.. imo you should just try to get your left arm even with your right

I know many people have this problem. But mine is actually rediculous. My entire left side is smaller than my right. And it's noticable by anyone. The thing is my left side can handle the same weight as my right but it's just not growing at the same rate. I was doing reverse cable flies for rear delts today and my left side could even do more than my right but it's almost invisible compared to the right. Same for bench. When I use DB my left side pumps out as much as my right, but the arm & shoulder is smaller, so the chest is carrying more weight. And vice versa for right. What are good techniques for brining up lagging parts without compromising strength nor overworking the lagging body parts? Longer rest periods?

if training is 'equal' I can't think of any reason as to why one side of the body would grow over the other. Well, barring some kind of bizarre nerve damage.

As for feeling the 'pump', that's pretty much useless. Try using both barbell & dumbell movements and alternate between them each workout. Drop your weights slightly and slooooow down the movement. I think you'll feel it then. :thumb:

the left chest is working harder than the right, probably because the left tricep is weaker than the right tricep so the chest has to compensate.
