Lesnar Has Bacterial Infection, 'Should Be Released Soon' From Hospital

The mystery surrounding Brock Lesnar's illness has been cleared up a bit. The UFC heavyweight champion is suffering from a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract, though it looks like he may be released from the hospital soon.

"He's in stable condition and should be released soon," UFC president Dana White said.

White said he spoke with Lesnar on Monday, but he wouldn't reveal which hospital Lesnar was currently being treated at because he wanted to protect his privacy.

White also said he is encouraging Lesnar to check into the renowned Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for further treatment, but still doesn't know if Lesnar will fight again.

"It depends on how serious this is," White said.

White relayed Lesnar's thanks to all his fans for their support as the champ tries to battle through this infection. "He's never in good spirits and he's not in good spirits now," White said.

As reported earlier, Lesnar's possible title defense against Shane Carwin at UFC 108 on Jan. 2 has been postponed indefinitely while Lesnar recovers.

Why all the sudden this talk of never fighting again? I wonder if they are just setting the stage for future hype.

"Heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar beats the odds and shows amazing heart with his successful return to the octagon after a near career-ending medical incident."

Men have come back to fight from worse things.

Possibly.

My father had diverticulitis when he was 50 years old. He was in rough shape for a couple weeks, but he recovered fine. He doesn't exercise or eat too well and lives a stressful lifestyle, yet he recovered fine. Once the doctor found the problem, it cleared up very fast.

I bet someone like Brock who is 100% committed to recovery would come back easily.

man that sucks, I hope he has a swift recovery, Ive been looking forward to this fight since before it was scheduled, I never heard about Carwin until I saw he called Brock out after his win over Mir, but have watched all his fights now and man would that be a nice fight!

So he had a hole in his intestine? I thought maybe it was a form of Crohn's disease perhaps, my brother was just diagnosed with that earlier this year and it was sudden, just out of the blue like this situation where he felt sick out of no where and never had a hint of something like shit in any checkups before

It does not bode well for UFC if this is legit. I think it is. However, this year is becoming a snooze fest while Fedor and Mousassi are banging it up on cans in Strikefarce.

The UFC is getting piss poor luck handed their way.

Lesnar out with infection.

Big Nog out with staph.

Todd Duffee out with injury.

Anderson Silva out with elbow injury.

Machida out with broken hand.

Ricardo Almeida out with injury.

Thiago Alves out with injury.

All of these guys were slated to fight and in turn cards were altered.

There are several more I can't think of right now, and I don't want to go onto a blog site because I haven't watched tonight's fights yet.
