Not to mention that the only people who would take the SAT would be going to college, so it is a poor represtentation of the population. I would imagine some of those states at the top that seem out of place are only there because the "less intelligent" people from that state never took the test. No it is not the sat score chart is the same all the way up to 99. could not find for 2003 or 2004. they do not fluctuate that much. Prove me wrong.

Just looking at 1987, there is a great variance in the order from 1987 to 1998, some states move more than 5 spots, case in point Soth Dazota.

More importantly, I bet if you cross-referenced that chart with the school dropout rates of each state you would find the states with higher scores have a higher dropout rate. While this doesn't seem major, if Iowa has an average of 1194, but only 30% of the people from the state took the test, this is not a good representation of the intelligence of the entire state. Then, you have the fact that alot of people go to college out of state. So the SAT scores for someone who lived in Iowa in 1998 doesn't necessarily represent the current intelligence of that state now.

Besides, the SAT is a poor test of intelligence.

Not to mention that even if you had this years data it would be invalid. I took the SAT when I was 15. I don't know too many people who are 15 that possess the right to vote. Figuring out who voted for who would be a nightmare to figure out using that SAT if you wanted the results to be anywhere near valid.

The College Board says overall, average scores for the class of
2004 remained about the same from the previous graduating seniors, with a score of 1026. Students averaged a point higher in the verbal test with a 508 and math scores fell a point to 518.

The College Board is taking solace in the fact that more
minorities than ever took the test, 37 percent of the record one point four million test-takers. Hispanics also showed improvement in their scores.

When the scores are broken down by sex, males were the same as a

I will give you a rundown of the problems with this.

First, the SAT is a poor indicator of intelligence.

Looking at it now, it would be impossible to make this comparison validly.

First, you would need to know age of each person in the state that took the SAT. You would then need to know where these people live when they are 18 and legal to vote, which would be at least 2 years later. You would then have to find out the percentage of the people that took the test and still live there at the time of the vote. Next, you would have to know the number of people, who are 18, who moved to that state between the time of the test and the election, and what the mean SAT score was from each of the states represented AND the percentage of people who moved there from each state.

I could go on, but I don't really think I need to. Even Ocean Dude would agree with me, and he is big time to the right.

If you want to be a GOOD Democrat, there are
some prerequisites you must have first. Compare the below and see how you rate.

1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding. No one can say that federal funding to help prevent aids is a bad idea. Facts are in and the federal tit has reduced rates of frequency. This is not a political issue.

2. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex. If you can't trust a teacher to provide sex-ed who can you trust? Most of us on this forum can do this job at home, but we are not the norm. The average guy on the street is not up to speed in biology and should leave it up to the teachers to teach. It is up to us as parents to teach morals and ethical conduct. We parents are who will keep our kids off of drugs and out of the maternity wards.

3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law-abiding Americans, are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology, in the hands of Chinese communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding. Low income areas need cultural investment. I as a Republican give my permission for my tax dollars to be spent funding the arts.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by yuppies driving SUVs. Anyone who still does not believe that global warming is real and has been hastened by poor polution management is living in denial.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. This is too funny to bother with.

7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on demand.

8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
