i started a carb cycling diet yesterday to get rid of these damn love handles that ive gained and to get really lean again for the first time in several years. yesterday was a low carb day and today is no carb for me. i had ~2300 calories yesterday, today i'm set for about 1500. however, i feel incredibly lightheaded today. my concentration is gone and it feels almost like you do the morning after heavy drinking when you wake up and youre still half drunk.

is there anything i can take? i need to be picking up some sort of supplement to increase my metabolism and give me energy; would this help? i barely feel safe enough to drive, im so out of it.

post your carb amounts day to day.....

You should not have a 0 carb day!

Anything less than 90-100 carbs a day fucks with your brain function.....and if your doing cardio that number is higher..
I will do 0-50 a day from time to time but it dosent bother me.....he is having problems so I wouldnt recomend he go so low.

yesterday, low carb day, was 210g carbs. today, no carb day, is 31g carbs. and, of course, high carb day is carbs until full. im at ~230g protein/day and ~60g fat each day (mostly from flax oil, fish oil, and natty pb)

could it be that im just used to so many calories and this deficit is screwing me up? i weigh 216 lbs, about 17% bf

Yeah I am not big on Many zero to low carb days

But carb cycling is just that, cycling Carb levels. Usually in sequence with your workouts ie Higher carb days on Legs or Back day, no carb days on Rest Days, and Low Carb Days on Shoulders, chest, Arms Day.

In the end what matters is that you are in a caloric deficit at the end of the week.

High Carb day is till you are satisfied not full.

How long have you been Carb cycling? Is the light headedness just a single occurance?

i end up with ~14000 cals at the end of the week. thats only 2 grand a day. like i said, maybe my body is just in temporary shock.

right, i know its until satisfied, not full, just used to saying "full". i just started yesterday. thats why im thinking that my body is in shock.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
2K a day/avg is low for someone at 217 lbs

Yeah, No carb days suck ass. It will be quite a shock

Are you doing any workouts on your no carb days?

thanks for the input. the workouts go like this:

Sunday ??? No Carb ??? 20 min HIIT
Monday ??? High Carb ??? Legs
Tuesday ??? No Carb ??? 20 min HIIT
Wednesday ??? Low Carb ??? Shoulders/Traps/Forearms
Thursday ??? No Carb ??? 30 min low intensity cardio
Friday ??? High Carb ??? Chest/Triceps
Saturday ??? Low Carb ??? Back/Biceps

however, though today is wednesday, i'm flying out for the weekend tomorrow and i KNOW tomorrow will be a high carb day. not the best time to start the diet, but doing what i can for the next few weeks as i fly all over the country. im starting to feel better than i did this morning; less lightheaded, and a TON less sick. breakfast was flax oil and whey protein (4.5 g total carbs) and morning snack was tuna and natty PB. lunch here in half an hour is chicken breast and broccoli. tuna and carrots for afternoon snack, then chicken and broccoli for dinner and fish oil and whey for bedtime.

I did the no carb thing for quite a long time and NEVER got past the lightheadedness. Some people cannot do that diet.

Don't start so low. At 217 pounds, you should be starting at like 2500-3000 per day to lose weight, or maybe even higher because you are young. Hell, last time I cut at 2800 per day and I only weigh 185 (Was maybe 190-192 when I started the cut).

I don't know much about carb cycling, but is there perhaps another rotation you could use with a low day instead of one of the no carb days or something to help you get adjusted? When you first go into ketosis, there are a lot of symptoms that can result.
