I go in to buy some whey protein and there like well you need to get a multivitamin too because it helps digest the protein. I just want to slap these people sometimes. :)

People say all kinds of bullshit to get sales. They probably get paid on commission.

i worked there in High School, the higher the price of somthing is the more commission you get... they train you to pretty much say anything to make the sale.

GNC is good at marketing, because that's all they really have going for their enterprise. Anyone who knows anything ain't shopping at GNC, at least not on a regular basis.

its just so damn convienent when you need something stat and can't wait for an online order.

If I get a coupon in the mail and on top of that it is the first week of the month, only then is it maybe worth going there. Then, just maybe I might find a deal that is similar to what I could get from the net after the shipping.

i always thought they work on commission at GNC. They attack you from the moment you walk in the door. And not just one person, but several employees. You try to be polite to them when they ask if you need help by saying no thank you...but after the fourth fucking person asks you the same fucking question in five minutes its very irritating. I know myself and others often avoid GNC just for that annoying reason.

exactly how i feel.. i dont like putting credit card numbers over the net and then paying s&h then waiting a week to get my stuff when i can just walk out the door and go to the store and get my supps for the day . lol

i find it pretty pathetic how they take advantage of people....
unfortunetly over half of "new lifters" and new supplement users start at GNC

its almost like a scam they way they do things...

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
When a person walks into GNC with any thoughts about exercise they have a blast. The higher priced the item is the more commission they get, then if an item is on promo for them forget it...they will fill your ear up with all sorts of shit, telling you that shark cartilage cures male patter baldness and that GNC Brand Creatine is just like taking Winstrol...

They can smell new blood from a friggin mile away...

that should be illegal!!!!

its so wrong... its like selling a car at a dealership claiming its 300 horsepower over stock when its not

the GNC near my house is the worst one lol, they dont KNOW shit
the 50% clearance yearly sale poster has been up for a year or 2 straight.....but only like 1 out of 100 items is on sale.
And they dont even kno how much it is and how much the discounts are lol

if the website is secure your cc number is safe, in fact it is safer to shop online than to hand your credit card over to a cashier, especially a server at a restaurant who takes your cc out of your sight.

as far as waiting a week, you plan ahead so you never run out.

as far as price, what you will pay at a store will be much higher than what you pay online including the shipping costs incurred, not to mention at a store you will also pay sales tax.

The people who work at the GNC I go to are very different for some reason. They've talked me out of soo many sales and always point me to the cheaper products... like if I asked about something they'll tell me to not waist my money or they'll show a product thats basically the same but with a better price. And then I went to another GNC that was like an hour away from that one and I assumed they were all the same... but the prick there tried tricking me into spending $60 more then I had to... so I got the hell out of there before the GNC monster took all my money.

RD is correct. Online shopping is safer than buying in a store AND ordering over the phone.

As far as retail stores go, I am all about The Vitamin Shoppe. :)

Honestly, it's hard to say. Even if the website has secure transmission, a hacker could always hack the databases that stores your credit card information. This has been a very popular cybercrime in recent years. But on the flipside, the same thing can happen to a retail store (our university book store got hit last year and my brother had a $600 charge on his credit card from India!). If the argument is that your credit card info passes through less hands when business is done online, perhaps, but there is no way to say how easy it is to get into those databases. You could argue that it would be easier for an employee who works for the online website (on site) to get access to the databases because there may be less employees, therefore less supervision.

But my point is this, both are relatively safe methods of shopping. If you use your credit card and you are wrongfully charged, you can always withhold payment or dispute a charge. That's the beauty of paying with plastic.

I worked at GNC and the only comission I got was $3 for every gold card I sold and $2 for every box of the diet product Release I sold, no comission whatesoever other than that. I loved selling a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff to newbies who had cocky attitudes.....priceless.

I agree, and the majority of the time a lot cheaper too.

I never thought of that. Scary.

The GNC that i'm near only has 1 employee running it at a time. It's always the same lady when i go in there and she's jacked. I've talked to her on numerous occasions just about what she does and what not. Actually pretty helpful.

Vitamin Shoppe is great for my protein shakes, multi, and ZMA. However, not for the creatine (I use CEE & they don't carry any) and fish oils. I've found that Wal-Greens and Target and places like that have much better deals on the fish oils. As far as creatine, I like the websites I've found out about from the people on this site.
