But I cant see anyone losing that much LBM or strength while in basic. If anything, wouldnt you put on muscle?

In my opinion, start specifically training for Paris Island ASAP. If you are weak in any area, even in the slightest degree, it will slow you down big time. I would strongly recommend to drop the bulking program and train specifically for the Marines.

I have a buddy in OCS right now who might be declared NPQ, not physically qualified. Although he could max out the Marine Corps PFT, and then ran a 292 on his initial in Quantico, he is suffering from shin splints. He didn't train with boots on. Train every corner you can... the time will fly by. I'd say get to it.

My experience in the Navy was that even though I could run forever before I got there I soon found out that I couldn't run super slow which we had to do in formation to keep up with the guys who weren't in shape...

Yeah, I could see how that could get boring. But of course that's Navy.

Air Force, if I get to play football at Air Force Academy. If not, Navy all the way. I did the Navy for 4 years, loved it. Military just wasn't for me.
But, man, pulling into port in Valencia, Spain after 3 weeks on the water...nothing like finding a cute European girl who wants to ride a Navy boy.
