Im trying to bulk up and im taking a whey protien shake about 3-4 times a day. What would be a better choice for bulking up? I feel like im eating non-stop all daay long so i can get the extra calories that i need. but i was wondering about how effective a mass gainer would be over just a protien shake. any help will be great! also i want to add as little body fat as possible while bulking. thanks everyone!

well, do you feel you get enough calories? lets see if you are. how much do you weigh? whats your diet look like as it is?

also, you eat all day long to get extra calories? that doesnt sound right, you eat right, you eat a lot, you eat all day long, and then you look for shakes for extra calories.

you want to add as little bf as possible while bulking, that might be quite a task, as you sound pretty young.. so get your diet in check. go to the bulking/cutting post in the diet&nutrition forums that jodi has wrote to find what foods to eat, and how much, and when. since you are young, eat a lot of them! as long as you are eating correctly (right foods, right timing) you are going to put on muscle without much fat.

after you get a diet you think is good, post it for critique.

also, i dont know much about weight gainers, i prefer to actually eat foods. i love to eat:laugh: but if you are going to take protein shakes, take them before your workouts, and i also do one before bed too with cottage cheese. and if you want you can mix sum creatine in with your shake for sum extra energy and pump.

other ways you can use whey protein powder besides a regular protein shake, is mix it with oats and natural pb (other ingrediants are common too) for a breakfast. those are great for bulking, and i love' em!!!

Hope i helped you out bro, good luck!

just drink a protein shake higher in calories like MHP's up your mass. i have used it and while it's a bit expensive its good stuff

im 19 years old, and i weigh about 135 with about 14% body fat. I am taking creatine, i just ended the loading phase yesterday. I dont literally eat all day long, it just seems that i eat a lot more than im am really used to. right now this is an outline of what my diet looks like:

breakfast: 7:30 am
3/4 cup oatmeal (dry)
2 slices whole wheat bread with pb or a yogurt w/flaxseed
protien shake

Snack: 10:30-11:00am
4-6 hard boiled eggs w/ small amount salt- only eat 1 or 2 yolks
can of tuna
apple or bannana

lunch: 1:00-2:00pm
2 pb&j sandwiches on whole wheat with sugar free jelly
3-6 hard boiled eggs w/ some salt
chicken breast
protien shake

snack: 5:00-6:00pm
2-5 hard boiled eggs
can of tuna or apple or bannana
yogurt w/flaxseed

Dinner: 7:00pm-8:00pm
2 chicken breast
1/2 c.veggies
large glass fat free milk

snack: before bed-10:30-11:30 pm
1/2 c. cottage cheese
shake

either look at the labels or go to calorieking.com and calculate your calories

you should be at about 500 above your maintenance calories

i wouldn't use a weight gainer. a lot of them have shitty ingredients..use a good MRP if necessary

avant labs is supposed to be coming out with DOMINATE pretty soon..

if not MRM's MRP isn't a bad choice..you can grab that at 1fast400.com

well, with some of the foods you want to figure out how much of it you are going to eat. how many eggs is it 2, 3, 4, or 5? how much chicken breast is it, 2 chicken breast (ounces) can of tuna, or bananna, or apple.. these things will make your calorie intake fluctuate and then you wont know how much your taking in. how much calories are in this diet? it should be around 2300 if you are bulking.

when do you work out? this will deturman which meal is PreWO, make this meal high in protein and carbs, low in fat. (have sum fats tho) nice job with the last meal.

also, im not sure about this.. but i dont believe a creatine loading phase is neccesary. i never do, and it works great for me.

if you eat a lot of food, whey protein powder should be fine.

hope i helped out bro!
