Be a full time student :) you'll be safe.

I don't see the neccessity of a draft during peace time. We have more then enough volunteer enlisted service personnel.

I'd move my boys to Canada before I'd let them get drafted into the Army. they put all the low class in the army during a draft and I don't want my kids around garbage. I'd have them enlist in the Navy or Air Force before I'd let that happen.

OUCH GR8. You wouldn't fight for our country? I think your just blowing off steam. I think under the proper circumstances you may. For instance some country bombed Pearl Harbor again or NYC.

I don't think anyone should be forced to fight for this country, anywhere except IN this country, if you want to be proactive and prevent an invasion of the US by killing off the terrorist country of the week go ahead and volunteer, the pay is OK and the benifits are pretty good as I understand it, but no one should be forced by the US government to make that decision.

I am actually thinking of joining after i graduate college. Call me crazy, but i have no idea where i'm going in life, and at least it'll pay off my mountain of debt from $ wasted for a college education.

Plus, i figure we all die anyway. (I think my biggest fear is dying without nobility).

So if i'm gonna die eventually, I mine as well die for a greater cause than myself and go out fighting.......

My sentiments exactly Flex.

That's good Flex! I think it's good for most people to serve at least some time in the military. Helps you and helps the country!

We just need to arrange this for you then! Why don't you move to Iraq and you can fight against us? I have close friends that are over there fighting and with those words, you might as well spit in their face. I think that is the lowest thing you could say as an american. Of course I know you don't care. You are useless.

That's the spirit! Live under the protection of our government and military, but refuse to help when called upon. :thumb:

I've stopped responding to him. As far as I'm concerned he doesn't exist here anymore.

I know, I can't tell you how much he used to piss me off before. But I've read enough of his posts to realise he really isn't worth any emotional response from me anymore. I'm just glad we have people like you and the others here who aren't complete jackasses!:D

makes you wonder how many "low class" individuals or garbage as fire puts it died in vietnam?

and there aint no fucking smilie on this post.....

First thought is, no, I don't think we'll see a draft, even if many of the most powerful politicians think that one is needed. The all-volunteer force has worked for decades now. Only a HUGE disaster would bring on a draft. But in any event, a draft will only work as well as people are willing to put up with it.

hey if that is what someone wants to do with their life then great, I am not spitting in their face, I only spit in the faces of a bitch ass cop that is always talkin shit like yourself. I am not gonna die for a cause I do not believe in such as this war. If the war was a real necessity and it was true threat then I would go, but this war was uneccessary, a waste of time and I don't believe that so many of our kids ahd to die b/c bush is an idiot. BTW why weren't his kids in the war fighting? I am not useless, I am just critical of situations, I don't believe every little thing the gov tells me.

He,he...Yep,lots o' room in the great white north!!!:D

I'm applying to the draft board to be one of the people that hear appeals from guys and decide whether or not they have a good reason not to be drafted... then I'll know how to keep my son from being drafted!

The one thing the U.S. should do is require every citizen to do at least 4 years of military or Red Cross/Peace Corps. It would give everyone a better view of the government.

Everyone seems so pissed about all the money going to Iraq, but when it comes down to it, it's only a decimal of what the U.S. government makes each year.

I hate that we have people over there faced with death everyday, but it's a job. You'll never understand that job until you're put there. I requested to go, but was not allowed. I was then scheduled to go three different times and three times it was cancelled every time. I want go. I want to be a part of it. And if I die in the line of duty my friends will be at my side. I'll be leaving my wife, my four year old daughter (pic in my gallery) and an unborn child behind. But it's a job.

If you loved your country as much as I, you'd do the same thing.

I don't necessarily think that serving in the military is some absolute test of whether or not you "love" this country. In a free society, people who disagree with the direction of the government are also exercising their "love" by dissenting. Frankly, I agree that every citizen should provide some kind of service to the country just to better understand what it means to be part of a greater whole. On the other hand, this country has done it's share of military interventions, invasions and miscalculated involvements that have cost a lot in money and lives - and NOT for the purposes of providing "national security."

As for remarks about the low life and garbage that end up being drafted into the Army, it's a given fact that our volunteer military is made up of a lot of lower income people and minorities who need the educational and health benefits to give themselves a chance for a future. Rich kids don't need to join the service in order to get job training or education.

I happen to think that people who are constantly waving the flag are the most dangerous ones in the country - they'd follow a dictator blindly into any kind of conflict. War isn't a football game and the President isn't a coach. But then, he never had to serve himself.

That wasn't a put down Mike If you knew the 1st thing about the the "history" of the Draft you would understand that what I said was "fact" The military takes the lower class people (city kids, non educated individuals and place them in the Army and Marine infantry divisions. Those with any College at all "mostly" go to the Air Force and then Navy because many of those jobs require a higer education (Electronics, Jet engine mechanics etc).
So in short, you may not like what I said but it is plain FACT. Sorry to piss you off but take it up with the government.

Lovely thought big guy but I wouldn't even join the Peace Corps. They to to some very bad places and are not permitted to carry a weapon. They are prime targets for Terrorists and Kidnappers. Many stories out there regarding this. check up on it and you will see what I'm saying.

GR81, I've been gone for a few months, how ya been? We got a lot to talk about, with the new pac movie coming out, and the new stuff just being released and all, but deal with that later. I'm feeling you on this issue. I don't think this war was justified. I don't think most of the intentions of our politicians were good in this, but even if they were, they have to understand, we have a 3 trillion dollar national debt thats getting bigger and bigger year after year. We're so far off of the gold standard, we're prinintg money to fund things, which ultimately costs the American people. We're spending money much faster than we're getting it, and eventually european countries coudl refuse the dollar, then we're screwed, cause tecnhically, it's just paper. Saving Iraqi lives is a noble to those who wanna jeapordized they're lives, but no one should be forced to fight, that's slavery. They have to understand that they can't go around solving everyone elses problems in this world. Some people become so obsessed with "patriotism" they go ballistic when people disresprect that. But I still stand by my original sentiment: I have and have always had much more to fear from police and our government then Saddam Hussein, or Fidel Castro, or Yasset Arafat etc.........
