Most important/effective supplement?

I choose vitamins. :p

Right now I'm a vitamin believer too.

Whey plus vits plus aminos.

I think everyone forgets that supplements are exactly that. They are too supplement ones diet that may be lacking. Good quality food is the most important thing. But with today's fast lifestyles we usually need a good vitamin, for the ones that are trying to gain muscle it's easier (sometimes cheaper) to carry a protein drink at work than to go and re-heat food 3-4 times while at work. If I could eat cleaner and have extra time, no one getting on my back for it, I would do it. I can't so I use a protein blend, whey, carb drink, vitamins and minerals.

I'm curious as to why most people so far believe that whey is the best supplement.

I guess cause it's the highest BV protein available, and as we know protein is the key to building muscle, and it's difficult to get adequate amounts of protein thru diet. Especially if you're trying to consume 1.5 - 2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight.

I can eat enough protein without whey and I eat 1.5-2G per pound. I have whey right now but alot of times I'll go weeks without any and eat 6 meals a day with real food. Although, if I don't take my vitamins (with or without whey) I am dragging my ass and feel like shit. Not to mention my immune system suffers and I get sick alot easier, especially in the winter months.

Eggs and tuna are cheap enough that if for financial reasons I could only afford 1 supplement it would be hands down my multi-vitamins.

Without your health you can't lift, if you can't lift then you have no muscle, if you have no muscle then there is no need for a protein supplement. JMO! :)

I could just about live off of chicken, black beans, brown rice, and salsa.

mm that actually sounds pretty good right about now:nanner:

In answer to Prince's Q,I'd say all aminos are vital but especially Creatine and Glutamine,In response to Jodi, alot of us don't have the time or can't eat six times per day so we depend on Whey protein drinks etc. to get the protein in.And Hey Mudge, any more great recipes?? I'm hungry, especially since I drink half my meals.

Most Effective Supplement

Try Good Quality Whey Protein like Prolab's or Optimum with MultiVitamins (Like Animal Pak). Take Glutamine after your workout and before going to bed.
Take Creatine post workout with Dextrose.
If you're eying BEST PROTEIN, consider Dorian Yates Approved Pro.Peptide. This is costly but in this industry you get what you pay for! Try once and you'll know why this protein falls in Upper Crest. Not for everyone.

Whey.

No food can be absorbed as quickly, which is key post workout.
